Requested move
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
No consensus to move. Vegaswikian (talk) 19:33, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Ziga Pance → Žiga Pance – Correct spelling; not able to move myself because a redirect exists from the target name. — Yerpo Eh? 16:03, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose move: This is the English Wikipedia, and according to the policy of WP:COMMONNAME and Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English), a biographical article does not use the subject's name as it might be spelled in Slovanian (with diacritics) as its article title, nor does it use the person's legal name as it might appear on a birth certificate or passport; it instead uses the name that is most frequently used to refer to the subject in English-language reliable sources. Simply put, the use of "Ziga Pance" is verified by the sources used within the article, and "Žiga Pance" is not supported by the sources used as references for the article. Dolovis (talk) 23:28, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose all the current external links and the single reference use "Ziga Pance", without diacritics. You haven't provided any reliable sources that prove your statement, or if it's used in English. 65.94.44.141 (talk) 05:10, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

- Ž is not a letter 'z' with diacritics, it's a separate letter. Also, per WP:COMMONNAME: "Sometimes the most appropriate title will contain diacritics (accent marks), dashes, or other letters and characters not found on most English-language keyboards. This can make it difficult to navigate to the article directly. In such cases, provide redirects from versions of the title that use only standard keyboard characters. This is one of those situations." See also the proposal to move at Talk:Anže Kopitar. In my opinion, the request should be made again as new arguments have emerged. --Eleassar my talk 15:20, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
