Other reliable sources?
[edit]Are there any other sources pertaining to the status of this family? The ones attached to this article all seem to be reports of her ancestry given by Lady Colin Campbell, who might just have a little investment in the matter. The article, additionally, is far too overgrown and messily written; surely not all this detail is really necessary (a lot being unsourced, also). If they were so prominent, surely there will be innumerable society references to them, business journals addressing their alleged empire, etc?
I have restored the article to its condition prior to edits made by ziadiefamilyhistory on 10th October 2018, having initially marked virtually every statement added as requiring citation; however, on investigation, few sources in Google books or elsewhere- none of which providing any genealogical information relating any of these Ziadies to each other- exist. The page was vastly increased in length in what was very likely a good-faith contribution, no doubt based upon genealogical information held by the contributor and in many cases probably from reliable sources, but which mired the page in a mass of less-than-relevant detail (particularly regarding general history and religion). Given the apparent lack of notability of any other members of the family (even those allegedly of distinguished achievement), the conclusion would appear to be that the only real reason the family as a whole is notable is that Lady Colin Campbell is a public figure, and has made much of her background in her autobiographical writings. Unless sources can be provided by an interested party, and additions made are relevant to the family in particular, there appears to be little reason to have a several-thousand-word article.
Perhaps usefully illustrative is that the 1969 'Who's Who In Jamaica' (by which year, one would imagine, this prominent family would have ramified considerably), allegedly a volume detailing the 'Careers of Principal Public Men and Women of Jamaica', treats only one Edward George Ziadie, born 1934, a Roman Catholic dry goods merchant, mentioned to be son of Solomon Ziadie, also a dry goods merchant, and bears an advertisement for a 'Victor Ziadie Realty' real estate development company. This is not, to my mind, commensurate with the idea that the Ziadie family are as prominent as has been claimed.
- I've removed this. It seems to be based purely on your own inferences from your own research of source material. The specific claim that this family's prominence has been exaggerated needs to come from a published source. --90.254.238.121 (talk) 20:29, 30 December 2022 (UTC)
