About starting this article

[edit]

As part of an effort for Wikipedia to have a thorough coverage of encyclopedic content regarding the Chuci poetry anthology, I decided to contribute information about Zhuang Ji, as no such effort would be complete without information about what is known about the authors of this collection. I began with the generally reliable information from David Hawkes (sinologist). Then, I looked for related information in Wikipedia articles. This I incorporated. I deliberately stripped out any reference citations that I have not personally verified. These should be added back in, by myself, or others, as we may be so willing. Hawkes says not much is known about Zhuan Ji, and this is most likely true (certainly it is for me); however, a certain amount can be known, both what is directly known and what is known about the times in which he lived and in which he pursued his literary career, as well his corpus of works, which might be a good idea to pursue (what survives besides his lament "Ai shi ming?). Certainly, this article as it is now is encyclopedic content which helps fill in the gaps of knowledge. As of the current state of knowledge, and with low likelihood that new sources of information will be discovered, this article may now represent a fairly comprehensive treatment of Zhuang Ji; however, if anyone provides useful supplementation I will be both filled with admiration and well gratified.
