Zenopolis

What source do we have for the 'religious documents' part of "sometimes abbreviated, expecially in religious documents, as Zenopolis"? Clearly Zenopolis is the usual name in Catholic Church sources; but do we have any evidence that Zenopolis is uncommon in non-church sources? As far as I can tell, most references to this city are in church sources, so it's hard to tell what is common in non-church sources! --macrakis (talk) 00:00, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can only see the snippet, so I'm not sure it's talking about the same Zenonopolis, but we also have Clive Foss, Cities, fortresses, and villages of Byzantine Asia Minor‎: "Only one other city appears, Zenopolis, the home of a childless couple who came... but it does occur as a bishopric, under a more correct name Zenonopolis, ...",[1] where the bishopric is the one with the full name. --macrakis (talk) 00:39, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, we have relatively few sources about Zenonopolis in general, and most of them are related to ecclesiastical history. That said, the two sources I give, Ramsay and Foss, don't focus on ecclesiastical history. --macrakis (talk) 17:21, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
