@Mondiad: - I will be picking up the review of this one - both for the Wiki Cup and the GA cup as well. I will be making my review comments over the next couple of days.
Side note, I would love some input on a Featured List candidate NWA World Historic Welterweight Championship. I am not asking for Quid pro Quo, but all help is appreciated. MPJ-US 00:34, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
GA Toolbox
[edit]I like to get this checked out first, I have found issues using this that has led to quick fails so it's important this passes muster.
- Peer review tool
- WP:LEAD - even for a short article like this for GA status, I would like to see us aim for the higher end of the range, really should be two paragraphs.
- Are there no appropriate info boxes that can be added to the article?
- The word "couldn't" should be "could not"
- Copyright violations Tool
- No issues
- Disambiguation links
- No issues
- External links
- No issues
Well Written
[edit]- Sources in the lead, makes it look like those statements are not covered later in the article. Statements should be sourced in the body of the article, not the lead
- "A precursor of the bourgeois critical-realism" should be a "a precursor to"
- "and is mentioned to have lived in the era of Ali Pasha Tepelena" should be "And is said"
- "It is believed that the year of birth is 1765-70." should be rewritten, cannot have singular "year" and then list a range
- I see the town called both "Tirana" and "Tirane"? is that last one a typo?
- "therefore he mastered that profession", shorten it down to simply "mastering the profession"
- what does (Albanian: gajtanxhi) refer to?
- "After finishing the madrasa" needs a capital "M" in Madrasa
- "well prepared in Islamic Mysticism" I would suggest rephrasing it to "well versed in Islamic Mysticism"
- "Year of death is accepted to be between 1835-1840." is an incomplete sentence
- "an actual public" just go with "a public"
- "Bastari's work was little appreciated in Albania until lately.", that needs to be reworded the term you are looking for is probably "underappreciated"
- There is a "[when?]" tag that needs to be addressed
- "No original written collection was saved to day" - From the context I can figure out what this means, but it's not clear - using the term "to day" about something that happened (or did not happen) in the distant past is confusing.
- "All the poems survived as oral tradition or scattered in pieces in mosques and tekkes." needs a rewrite, "through oral traditions" and I am not sure what "pieces" this refers to?
- "His work, collected in a diwan was presented only in the 1930s" rewrite. "His work, collected in a diwan, was not published until the 1930s"
- "The first to draw interest on his work was Ibrahim Hasanaj, who collected the poems from Hafiz Ibrahim Dalliu, Rexhep Nizami, Ali Bixhiu and Hamid Ohri, and in 1959 sent to the Literature-Linguists Catedre of the University of Tirana all the written materials he found on Bastari." poor english, needs work on the grammar.
- The quote from Bulo needs a direct attribution.
- I am going to stop with the well written feedback, I feel like I am basically rewriting 90% of the article with my comments - but it's not MY GA nor my role to do that.
Sources/verifiable
[edit]- Reference 1 - Needs to indicate that it's in French
- Reference 8 - indicate language
- Formatting looks okay, published book sources and AGFing on the foreign language books that Google translate cannot easily translate for me.
- There is no source for the street being named after him, that is needed.
Broad in coverage
[edit]- borderline, but that's not the problem of the article.
Neutral
[edit]- Yes
Stable
[edit]- Very little activity, looks stable, no problems indicated on the talk page either.
Illustrated / Images
[edit]- Sadly no images, is there really nothing at all? It's not a deal breaker for GA status.
- There are so many grammatical issues in the article, it's clear that the main author is not a native English speaker - I honestly don't think it's ready for GA, it needs serious work to get to the "Well written" level. I would recommend the "League of Copy Editors" have a look at this.
- @Mondiad: - Since I started the review I don't want to just cut it short and fail it on the spot, I will give you five days to start to address my comments and decide if you want to engage the League of Copy Editors or not. MPJ-US 03:30, 6 May 2016 (UTC)
