Original Items on the Menu

I think it is important to point out that the current menu contains many of the original items. The Chilitos and Chips and Cheese taste exactly the same way today as they did 25 years ago! It doesn't make sense to refer to the Chilito in past-tense, as though it no longer exists. You can get a Chilito in any Minnesota Zantigo today, and you won't be able to tell the difference from the "originals".

Unrelated to the Original

I don't think the statement "apparently unrelated to the original" is worded in the best way:

A new Zantigo chain, apparently unrelated to the original, was started in
Minnesota in 1999 and currently has seven locations (six in Minnesota and one in
Wisconsin).

How can a restaurant with the same name, and much of the original menu items, be "unrelated" to the original? From a business sense, if there is a different owner, then you can make the argument that they're unrelated. But if the new establishment incorporates the original concepts and menu items, I think it makes it misleading at that point to say they are "unrelated". I went to Zantigo when I was a child, and I go now. There little difference between the two in aesthetics as well as menu items. It has the same feel as the original chain. Given that, perhaps it would make more sense to rephrase:

The re-established chain, apparently under new ownership, was started in Minnesota
in 1999 and currently has seven locations (six in Minnesota and one in Wisconsin).

Overhaul

I have overhauled the article and divided it into two main sections, for the original chain (1970s-1987) and the present chain (1999-present). Most controversially, I have deleted the para about agitation by Mexicans over the Zapata name. This needs to be sourced if it is to be included. I could find no reference to that in newspaper coverage of the chain. I am more inclined to believe the name change was designed to distinguish the restaurant chain from the Zapata line of grocery store Mexican foods, which was renamed Ortega at the time of the KFC purchase of Zapata.Bellczar (talk) 21:27, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
