I certainly agree with you on this one, however, I am not quite sure which Wikipedia rules apply. The retcon concept that you mention seems to be about fictional work, although it is not a policy article anyway. Wouldn't it be best to generally call him 2012 World Champion, and make clarify (where relevant) that the title was originally called Players Championship? Indeed. I ultimately decided against using the word "retcon", since although coverage reporters have used that word to describe the situation, it does not fit the Wikipedia definition. I have incorporated him being a World Champion into the article, and I think notes should be used to explain the Players Championship thing. Hahahopp (talk) 17:14, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
