Leak information
[edit]Since we don't have much information on the album and the details of its being leaked are pertinent and relevant, can people with newly-created accounts stop removing the second paragraph of the article? It's pointless and it's not helping anyone. Cheers --W guice 14:33, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- Judging from the previous edits from the anonymous users reverting the info, it seems that they are Pitchfork Media people trying to shift the blame and attempting to cover the fact that they are directly responsible for the leaking. 08:57, 4 September 2006 (UTC)Pinchofhope
- Pitchfork is obsessed with Wikipedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.101.199.152 (talk) 08:00, 5 December 2006 (UTC).
Pronunciation
[edit]Article currently reads: "Ys (IPA pronunciation: [i:z]) is an album..." If I understand the IPA article correctly, this means it is pronounced eez, as in "please", whereas I was under the impression that it's pronounced eece, as in "niece". The press release says it's pronounced "ees" – definitely a tad ambiguous, but I'm guessing that my interpretation is correct, meaning the IPA pronunciation would be i:s. Does this sound reasonable? →smably 22:03, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
- i was wondering the same thing, esp. since IIRC the release also mentions that the album's named after the town, which is also pronounced thus. i changed it. -- W guice

- Ah, but the correct pronunciation is surely "i:", since it's a Breton word. Look at the name of Paris, from Par-Ys, pronounced by the French "Par-ee". 90.217.196.40 (talk) 21:30, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Critical Acclaim
[edit]If no-one objects, I might add a little bit about the awesome reviews it's been getting....cos it is quite good really. PunkOn 06:39, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Link from Ys page
[edit]I feel that it'd be nice to be able to come to the album page directly from the main Ys page, rather than having to go through the disambiguation page. Any thoughts? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.101.199.152 (talk) 08:01, 5 December 2006 (UTC).
Harper reference / inspiration
[edit]I have been trying to edit the page and insert the called for 'citation', but everytime I do so half the page disappears. Not wanting to totally screw things up completely it would be helpful if someone could add in the reference for me. I haven't had this problem before, it may be the computer here (French Polynesia)? or server issues?
"The album, particularly the length of the songs and orchestral arrangements, was inspired by the 1971 Roy Harper album Stormcock. [1]" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stephenjh (talk • contribs) 06:51, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
“I had written most of the songs, but I refined them after I heard Stormcock. There was a cool thing that happened—Stormcock inspired a lot of what I wanted orchestrated. After articulating it in my weird way to Van Dyke and him writing his version of what I was explaining, it didn’t sound anything like Stormcock. It was really great to watch that happen. Van Dyke hadn’t heard Stormcock and that was a good because I wasn’t asking him to copy something he hadn’t heard before.” —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stephenjh (talk • contribs) 06:56, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- you had a broken "ref" tag on this page that was vanishing half the text. fixed that for you. will now see about inserting the Stormcock reference. cheers. tomasz. 16:30, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Ys cover.jpg
[edit]Image:Ys cover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a non-free use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Image copyright problem with File:Joanna Newsom - Emily.ogg
[edit]The image File:Joanna Newsom - Emily.ogg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Personnel section??
[edit]- Where has the "Personnel" section gone from this article? i'm going to restore the last good one from the article history, as it's ridiculous that there currently isn't one. tomasz. 16:30, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Ys (Joanna Newsom album) → Ys (album) – WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. As far as I can tell, Wikipedia has no other articles about other albums named Ys (see the current Ys (album) disambiguation page). Popcornfud (talk) 12:11, 3 August 2024 (UTC)
- Ping @Tassedethe: who moved the article to this disambiguated title without discussion in 2013. 162 etc. (talk) 16:31, 3 August 2024 (UTC)
- Ys (Il Balletto di Bronzo album) existed at that time (2013), but was subsequently prodded in 2017. So moving this article back to the simpler (album) form would be fine. Tassedethe (talk) 17:14, 3 August 2024 (UTC)
- Support per WP:SONGDAB unless the 2017 one is deemed notable. Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:42, 4 August 2024 (UTC)

- Support - currently unnecessary further dab and I can only identify one album. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 19:38, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
