This article
[edit]Two previous versions of the Youth Leadership Camp article (article log) and at least one associated image (image log) once existed. The articles were deleted as copyright violations. The image was deleted because it lacked a copyright tag.
Last week, I sent the following note to the admins who had deleted the copyvios:
"As two previous Youth Leadership Camp articles contributed by other editors have been deleted as copyvios and one of them was deleted by you, I want to bring it to your attention that I am working on a non-copyvio stub about the camp. In the hope of discouraging future additions of copyvio material, I intend to include a brief summary of the fates of the earlier articles on the stub's talk page…"
If the Youth Leadership Camp entry is to survive on Wikipedia (and I hope it does, because education of deaf youth is encyclopedic and notable), additions of copyvio material must be avoided. — Athaenara ✉ 01:10, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
Notability
[edit]The following was also posted on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Deaf:
“ Could some of you take a close look at the Youth Leadership Camp article to see what improvements are needed to justify removing the {{notability}} tag an editor added to it when it was a two day old stub? Thanks. — Athaenara ✉ 05:11, 15 February 2007 (UTC) ”
(So far, there have been no responses to it.) — Athaenara ✉ 00:37, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
Requested Pictures
[edit]Previous discussion
[edit]The 22:30, 21 February 2007 (UTC) post refers to discussion (substance quoted below) on user talk pages.
“ I saw Deaf&diff=105475621&oldid=105214335 your post on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Deaf offering to produce American Sign Language images… Can you make images of the words scholarship, leadership and 'citizenship being signed? — Athaenara ✉ 08:06, 13 February 2007 (UTC) ”
- “ Are you looking for ASL, or SEE or PSE? Ara Pelodi 17:11, 13 February 2007 (UTC) ”
“ [ ASL, horizontal row of stills, three words signed as phrase ] — Athaenara ✉ 00:50, 14 February 2007 (UTC) ”
I'm going to hold off on getting the pictures for this article until I see whether it will be deleted or not. Tag my page if its decided to keep the article. Ara Pelodi 22:30, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
Current discussion
[edit]Five months later, the article is stable and hasn't been tagged for notability since March. Any chance of those images being uploaded? — Athaenara ✉ 05:10, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
- Since it's August 2007, and the page is still here (albeit in stub-form), I've added a template requesting free (and fair-use) photos. And since given that YLC has been located in various parts of the country (Strodsburg, PA; Pengilly, MN; Stayton, OR; Sioux Falls, SD; Dundee, FL; and back to Stayton, OR; respecticvely), I thought some maps of the various states (or city/towns, even) with a "thumbtack"-type of marker indicating approximately where the camp's location was (or is). Given that the location in Stayton, OR has been a constant since 1990 or so, I'm willing to bet a screenshot of the location in Google Maps would be a welcome addition. Hence, I've added a {{Reqmap}} template as well. Thoughts? --Micahbrwn 22:24, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
