news of his goal
[edit]- added news of his goal against Saudi Arabia in AFC 2007.
- I apologize for any inaccuracies (if any) as I edited the page only 1 minute after the ref officially declared Iraq the winners while watching the game live.

Fair use rationale for Image:Pele 4 l.jpg
[edit]Image:Pele 4 l.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.DUBAI - 2007 AFC Player of the Year runner-up Younis Mahmoud will be sidelined for three weeks after he was injured playing in Iraq's 1-1 draw with China on Wednesday. Mahmoud, who led Iraq to the 2007 AFC Asian Cup title, limped off the pitch after only six minutes into his side's Group One match of the third round of the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at Al Ahli stadium in Dubai.
"I will be out for about 20 days or so after tearing the back muscle of my leg," said the 24-year-old striker to reporters after the game. "It is unfortunate that I couldn't help Iraq (against China)."
Mahmoud suffered a similar injury two months ago and was not available for Iraq during their first round match against Pakistan when he suffered a thigh strain and was out of action for a month.

Birth date?
[edit]Was he born in 1979 or 1983? I've seen it both ways. Inter&anthro (talk) 20:20, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
- Mahmoud started playing in 1998. If he was born in 1983 that means he would have been 15 when he started. But if he was born in 1979 that means he would have been 19, which seems a bit more reasonable since he spent two years in an academy beforehand and before that was considered a promising basketball player.
