Whether or not the programme exists on film is disputable. An entry in the Kaleidoscope group on Facebook suggests that a 405 line videotape was transferred to 625 line digibeta in 1998. Not RS, of course, but an indication of a detail which might be excluded from this article. The use of the term "film" or "filmed" in a genric sense is slack usage when the work was known to be recorded. "Filmed" also implies the shooting was by the conventional when most British television programmes which still exist are telerecordings.
I've changed the former to "a recording of" - the important point is that it's a copy of the broadcast, not a master tape, as there was none; the performance being live-to-air. The Star Trek kiss is relevant, not only because most of the sources mention it, but because many people think that that was the first screened interracial kiss, and this one is earlier.
