Encounter with Teófilo Yldefonso?

[edit]

Has there been any factual accounts of Tsuruta-san serving as a prison guard to fellow Olympian Teófilo Yldefonso during the Death March or some other event in WW2? The local news network here aired a story about the two and how Teofilo was said to have sacrificed himself over choosing to escape from the prison camp when Yoshiyuki offered him a chance due to their camraderie as fellow swimmers in the Games.
