Miscellaneous section
[edit]I think this section should be deleted. The 'avowed' and 'black jew' claims are unsupported. The fact that his family has declared itself jewish and that he is an israelite can be stated in the lead. If there is a reliable source for the 'best jewish fighter of all time' claim, that can go in the career section. Finally, a section entitled 'Miscellaneous' is stylistically inappropriate. --RegentsPark (sticks and stones) 14:20, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- Unsupported, or unsupportable? If they can be supported, they certainly should not be deleted. If you question their veracity, and have not seen (or looked for, and don't wish to look for) a fact tag would be appropriate in lieu of a deletion. But actually, I thought I had left you RS support -- so am puzzled by your comment. If you know there is RS support, why would you here speak as though none exists?
- As to format, I'm open for the information being kept under any section title that is more appropriate -- perhaps Heritage, or Religion.--Epeefleche (talk) 11:33, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
- The israelite part is supported but I haven't seen an RS for 'black jew' (black, yes, jew, yes, but 'black jew' no). Unless 'black jew' is an acceptable term for jews who are black, in which case I apologize (I don't know much about this). My suggestion is that, either way, the lead be rewritten as "Yoel Judah (born 1956?) is the eldest member of the Brooklyn-based Judah boxing family. He is the trainer and manager of his sons Zab Judah, Daniel Judah, and Josiah Judah. Judah belongs to an African-American jewish family and is an israelite.(citation: the nytimes reference)." Then, assuming that the greatest jewish fighter of all time is supportable, that statement be moved up to the boxing career section. That way we don't have a miscellaneous section. --RegentsPark (sticks and stones) 12:59, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
- No apology necessary. Yes, one use is as in Black Jew.--Epeefleche (talk) 18:06, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
