Expanding the page and less Aquabatian POV

For a brand new show on a major network, there's a shocking lack of information on the page. Perhaps somebody, if not myself because I'm lazy, could possibly expand the page, adding sections such as the format of the show, how it came to be, critical response, etc., etc.. Just take an example from the other Nick Jr. show pages, all of which are astoundingly detailed.

I'm also aware that many of the editors of this page (myself included) are rabid, card-carrying Aquacadets, but that's no reason why the entire page has to be about The Aquabats!. There's no reason to constantly refer to Christian Jacobs as MCBC because, save for their guest appearance, the band itself has little to do with the show. It's "Yo Gabba Gabba!", not "The Aquabats! Show".Skibz777 04:31, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

In Episode 1, "Eat", during the story book time, as the Momma Goon rings the dinner bell, there is a picture of The MC Bat Commander behind her on the wall. In Episode 22, "Games", while the gang is marching across Gabba Land and make their way into Muno's area, you can see a bat floating in the upper left corner, which looks very similar to the Aquabats!' mascot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mobannon (talkcontribs)

I heard that Sean and John Scott (Tap dancers) were on the show. Is this true?

The 'Hipster Kid's Show

I had put a line in that this show seems aimed at younger 'hip' parents (known as Grups) and their kids and, thus, is something of a 'hipster kid's show.'

Consider this: The show features memeber of the Aquabats (an indie rock band). It features 'cool' guests like Biz Markee, Mark Mothersbaugh and The Shins (people little kids would have no idea who they are, while their 20-30 something parents would)

Also, the design of the characters were designed by pop-surrealist arist Tim Biskup. Look at some of his work here (http://www.startmobile.net/mstore/startinc.nsf/ArtistHome?OpenForm&Artist=Tim+Biskup). Lowbrow art screams 'Hipster' and Biskup is very hipster-friendly.

Not to mention that the title of this show is a reference to a Ramones song (Gabba Gabba Hey). Punk = Hipster.

This is not anything new, Sesame Street worked hard to include in-jokes and pop culture references that parents would understand, to make a kid's show entertaining to them. Yo Gabba Gabba seems to be following this model by catering the show to a new genration of young 'hipster' parents.

Here are some links to publications/websites which make a point of saying this show appeals to hipster parents.

Gay?

Um, what is the line doing there, right before reference [1], saying all the characters are gay? The reference, when examined, appears to be for the preceding line about the voice of Muno, and none of the references say anything about the characters' sexuality, so I have to assume the sentence in question is spurious vandalism and should be removed from the article. 24.116.151.23 03:29, 2 November 2007 (UTC)Aelswyth

Playhouse Disney?

Why do people keep adding that the show will be on Playhouse Disney? Last time that happened, I checked the TV schedules and there was no such airing. Searching yo gabba gabba playhouse disney in Google doesn't bring up anything related... Anyone want to shed some light on this? --Lyght (talk) 21:34, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

I think someone just keeps vandalizing it. I doubt that's real. It's like the time someone changed it to include Furbys. AgentKaz (talk) 18:59, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Adding a reference to the Nathaniel dance

Well, thanks to The Soup, there has been a slight meme involving the episode with Nathaniel, if anyone can grab some sources, we could make some sort of section on this show's cult. ViperSnake151 19:49, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Remix

The list of episodes has a 'remix' column, what does that refer to? It isn't mentioned elsewhere in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.88.102.93 (talk) 20:29, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

The remix is that bit at the end where they go over all the things they did today, with snippets of dialogue and songs worked into a dance mix. I'm assuming the data in the table refers to who created the remix. GJC 22:09, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Fair warning...

I will be de-linking everything red as soon as I have a spare couple of hours. One or two redlinks in an article is one thing, but this is ridiculous--it's like a forest of red. If anyone's going to fuss, my advice would be to write the article for the subject link you're so attached to...though I wonder how many would pass WP:N, but that's a separate issue entirely. GJC 22:12, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

UPDATE: I've done it. All the redlinks have been removed. Please DO NOT re-link them unless and until you've actually created an article for the item; newly-created redlinks will be reverted. GJC 10:41, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Building Consensus

I think the first sub-criteria could be well-researched. Although inline citations were used throughout, I did find one that was not consistent with its source. --Tmarie08 (talk) 14:55, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

I think that the other two sub-criterias should be images and well written. There is a lot that needs to be improved but I think it could be fun. I have a feeling that the creator or one of the writers on this page is not from the US because the DVD list contains a DVD that I have never seen or heard of anywhere. However, there are 4 DVDs available that are not listed on the page. Andiemarie923 (talk) 19:55, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

I made changes in the lead that I believe fall under well-written criteria. They can be seen on the article's history page. feedback and suggestions on the next step to take towards improving this article? --Tmarie08 (talk) 14:56, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Similarities to Sweet Cuppin' Cakes

There are quite a few uncanny resemblances to the Homestarrunner.com stongbad email episode that discusses a fake show named Sweet Cuppin' Cakes. More information on Sweet Cuppin' Cakes can be found at http://www.hrwiki.org/wiki/Sweet_Cuppin'_Cakes

Similarities include the use of generic "keyboard demo" sounds in songs and the theme song, the color scheme, the cartoon style, the ice background for Toodee, and DJ Lance Rock's basic resemblance to Coach-Z as parodied on the Most In The Graveyard Halloween special. http://www.hrwiki.org/wiki/Most_in_the_Graveyard

Additional similarities exist between the show and Homestarrunner.com in general. One such example is the overwhelming use of 8bit and Tandy style graphics and frequently inserting characters, children, and topics into a parodied 8bit game. Cabbruzz (talk) 23:19, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Clean up history?

The history section is obviously graffiti with no references. Regardless of any remotely possible truth in it, the writing style makes it sound obviously fake. Maybe remove it until some references can be used to recreate it? Cabbruzz (talk) 23:19, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Problems with lead and "Overview" section

I came here because I heard this name somewhere else and wanted to find out more about it. Sadly, both the lead and the "Overview" section lack even the most basic explanation about what this show is about. The "Overview" section contains a number of facts but no coherent explanation. Someone familiar with the subject should fix it per WP:LEAD and the WP:MOS. Regards SoWhy 13:44, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Mascot

In these edits [1][2][3] from two Waterloo, Canada IPs, the user applies the word "mascot" to describe characters. I don't see the point of using the term "mascot" to describe the Yo Gabba Gabba! characters unless a reliable source describes them as such. The definition of mascot is "an animal, person, or thing adopted by a group as its representative symbol and supposed to bring good luck". Superficially, this doesn't seem to be an appropriate word choice here. Not every large-headed costume character is a mascot. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:56, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

List of guest stars is getting ridiculous

The paragraph that lists 'the guests include' is becoming a massive, unformatted list. Unless someone objects in the next few weeks, I'm going to

  • Remove all but three music guests
  • The three will be as diverse as I can figure
  • Remove all but two non-muscial guests
  • Remove Lil' Wayne (who has never appeared on the show)
  • Note that the episode listing has the full list of guest stars.

If anyone has any nominations for the five representative guests, please leave a note. RossO (talk) 23:39, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Series End/Broadcast delays

A common attempted edit of the page is to add a final release date. It's been a number of years since any episodes were in production. Nickelodeon has held back on broadcasting the few unaired episodes. The January 2015 release of 4 of the last 7 episodes was the last blast.

I don't have confirmation, but I think the remaining three episodes have already been broadcast in Australia and may be available via iTunes Australia, so the content could be cataloged and added. Does anyone here think that the article properly represents the state of the show? RossO (talk) 12:28, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

I don't know anything about the series, but I can say that per Template:Infobox television if 12 months elapse after an episode airs with no new episodes or news about the series, we can change the |last_aired= parameter in the infobox only to the literal date the series "last aired" a new episode. Otherwise, we would list it as present. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:39, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
Thanks Cyphoidbomb. It looks like we'll be reverting well-meaning editors for the next twelve months. : ) But then we can finally put this series to rest. RossO (talk) 20:21, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

Battle of the End Date

I've added a note to the end date field in the infobox. November 12, 2016, here we come. RossO (talk) 18:52, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

I think that the Yo Gabba Gabba! page should be able to edit by anyone because it was before someone changed that. 107.146.244.150 (talk) 05:03, 21 February 2021 (UTC)

I would like added that Yo Gabba Gabba also aired on Hop! Channel (a kids TV Channel in Israel) in Hebrew. Among Us Player 12345 (talk) 15:21, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

I think this page should be able to edit by non users. I want to add some new references such as one from The Loud House episode School of Shock, and two other ones. That is the thing. 107.146.244.150 (talk) 01:02, 24 July 2021 (UTC) 107.146.244.150 (talk) 01:02, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

I’d like to edit out in Plex’s bio “He often falls in love with Toodee in her land.” It is clearly promoting pedophilia because Plex is a confirmed adult and Toodee is a confirmed child.
