etymology

Could the -gate part of the name related to Jutes/Geats? The New forests name was early anglicised in Old english to be called the ytene, giving credence to the idea of the Jutes/Geats settling in the New forest. 109.234.178.219 (talk) 13:00, 24 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
