Yellowjackets → Yellowjackets (band) – This band is not the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for the term. "Yellowjackets" should redirect to Yellowjacket (disambiguation) – Muboshgu (talk) 17:34, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
- Support per nom. Pretty clear cut. Mannysoloway (talk) 18:59, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
- Actually, I think "Yellowjackets" should redirect to Yellowjacket per WP:PLURALPT. — BarrelProof (talk) 21:40, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
- Support this.--Ortizesp (talk) 00:28, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- Support per nom. Redirecting to the disambiguation page is the safest bet. (And I'd say there's NO primary topic for the plural version.) Paintspot Infez (talk) 22:39, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
- Support and redirect Yellowjackets to Yellowjacket per WP:PLURALPT. Rreagan007 (talk) 00:34, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- Support pretty straightforward.Mozzie (talk) 10:44, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- Support but then move Yellowjackets (TV series) to the base name as the overwhelming WP:primary topic with several tens of thousands of views per day.[1] It's obvious from recent pageviews that the large majority of readers landing on Yellowjackets now want the TV series. It's also getting over 50 times the views of yellowjacket so far this year.[2] - Station1 (talk) 16:54, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
- Strong support per WP:PLURALPT, the band has 17,066 but the TV series has 842,747, the insect has 15,156 and the album has 670[[3]]. The TV series is probably primary by usage but the insect is probably primary by long-term significance so per Paintspot, the TV series is too recent to take the plural form especially since swapping PTs can cause problems. - Support. Yellowjackets (TV series) is Wikipedia's 38th most read article. That's partly recentism, but the series is likely to remain at least as popular as the band, and the plural of yellowjacket wasp has more long-term significance. Redirect Yellowjackets to Yellowjacket (disambiguation), because neither contender for primary topic passes both tests. Certes (talk) 00:50, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- Support as plural of yellowjacket In ictu oculi (talk) 18:19, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- Strong Support as per nom. ~ Kpddg (talk) 14:55, 22 January 2022 (UTC)

Redirect target
[edit]@Andrewa: Thank you for closing the RM. Many readers searching for Yellowjackets will be seeking Yellowjackets (TV series), which is currently Wikipedia's 34th most-read article. Should the redirect be retargeted to Yellowjacket (disambiguation), or do you see a consensus that the plural of the wasp is a primary topic? Certes (talk) 13:02, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- Agree, it would be best to have no primary topic, many editors supported but reasonable points were made like views that there is no primary topic so based on this we could say there's a reasonably clear consensus the band isn't primary but no clear consensus on if the insect is. Also I'd say the same about Street Lights, was there consensus the generic meaning is primary for the capitalized form? Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:09, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- I don't think the RM resolved all of this, and admit I have left some loose ends. In hindsight it might have been better for me to weigh in as a participant rather than close the RM. I tend towards disambiguation when in doubt, but that's not as well supported by current Wikipedia policy and practice as I would like! My reasoning is that this serves the readers best, I do not think any reader on any device is disadvantaged by seeing a DAB and knowing that one click will then take them to the article they want, in fact in some cases the DAB is exactly what they want as they are wondering what the term means. Of course if that is all they want to know they are in the wrong place, but having found out what it means most will then go to the appropriate article to find out more, so they are in the right place after all and we have helped them most efficiently.
- So far as capitalization goes, in this case I think it's a small detail and should be used with caution as a disambiguator, but it can be used. Andrewa (talk) 17:55, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- In terms of SMALLDETAILS I'd suggesting Street Lights goes to Street light (disambiguation) since while I agree its not sufficient disambiguation to have the song as primary, its unlikely the generic meaning is primary so having a DAB serves the reader better since many people typing the capital "S" will want a proper noun and those that don't still have the 1st lick to get to the generic meaning. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:04, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- Should we invite a wider audience to the Yellowjackets discussion at RfD? As for WP:DIFFCAPS, Yellow Jacket and Yellow Jackets redirect to the wasp, but probably shouldn't as the only meanings with that capitalisation are on the dab. Certes (talk) 18:23, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- If there isn't an agreement here then yes but I'd wait to see if we get an agreement here first. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:25, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
