Far too much information in "Paper Walls" part
[edit]I don't think stuff as time lines (when which song and which video from that album was released on the bands myspace page, for example) belongs into an encyclopedia. Either a native speaker rewrites that or I'll do it. And this ain't going to be pretty ;) . 78.48.233.201 08:51, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
yellowcard in LA?
[edit]I was pretty sure these guys moved out to LA at some point and their myspace ( http://myspace.com/yellowcard ) also mentions it, however I find no info on this in the article.
>>For singer and guitarist Ryan Key, the experience felt overwhelming, and more than a little pivotal. A year since the release of their major-label debut, Ocean Avenue, and five years since the band staked out from its Jacksonville, Florida hometown for Los Angeles, Yellowcard had grown (very quickly) into full-scale rock phenomenon. With three hit singles under their belts, sold-out tours across the globe and Ocean Avenue going on to sell 2.5 million copies worldwide, it felt like the closing of a very successful chapter.
Maybe this wiki could clarify this section of history Psycadelc 17:53, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
official statement
[edit]I removed the official statement from the "original lineup" section of the article because it was copy/pasted from the band's website, and not really necessary for wikipedia. -Varco 02:15, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
- Still informative, though. How about it goes back up as a quote with a citation? Cathryn 08:36, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
More coming...
[edit]I'll get rolling on the cleanup sometime this weekend. Shouldn't be too hard... By the way, is anyone on here also active on the Underdogs message board? Cathryn 00:07, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
First Album/Debut Album
[edit]Yeah, this article references "Midget Tossing" as the first album, but "One for the Kids" as the debut album. I'm not a genius or particularly well-versed in music terminology, but aren't the two the same thing?
- It's a tricky topic for this band (and is frequently discussed on fan message boards). The lineup (not to mention--disputably--the band's general tone and style) underwent such a drastic change between "Midget Tossing" and "One for the Kids" (and, to a lesser degree, between "Where We Stand" and "One for the Kids") that it's hard to say just what is their "first" album. Since the band's name and a few of their members carried over to "One for the Kids," "Midget Tossing" is often called their "first" album. However, "One for the Kids" was the first album released by the current (main) lineup and matches the band's sound in proceeding albums much more closely...thus, it's often labelled their "debut" album. Still, I agree that the labels are pretty subjective & tricky to deal with.
- Does that make any more sense? Cathryn 08:26, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, also, many fans (and journalists) call "One for the Kids" the band's "debut" album for reasons of notoriety...it's often considered their breakout album in many ways. Of course, the big bucks didn't start rolling in until the band signed with Capitol for "Ocean Avenue," but "One for the Kids" was when they really started to get their name out there. Cathryn 08:39, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Another interesting point: no albums released before "One for the Kids" are listed under the band's discography on their own official website...even though "Where We Stand" was re-released last year as a promotion preceeding the "Lights and Sounds" release. Very interesting. (And confusing.) Cathryn 08:56, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Sorry I don't have an account But it sounded real bad that someone wrote "and the Guitar he used was made out of wood" and "one of their boyfriends" I chnged boyfriends to friends and got rid of the wood thing simply because EVERY guitar is made out of wood. Now if someone knows for a fact that it wasn't a Gibson that might be worthy of mention.
Trivial Trivia
[edit]The amount and content of the trivia is simply ridiculous and needs to be cut down. It seems like whoever posted it all is simply trying to promote Yellowcard rather than to inform.
- No kidding! I added some templates that might call attention to the need for help (and if nothing else, they'll at least let readers know that a lot of what is being said is kind of fishy).
- Any ideas? I'm tempted to just scrap the whole section, but maybe it would be better to pick a few important points, dig up verifiable sources for them, and delete everything else. (But that's a lot of work for a decidedly "trivial" problem. ;) )
- It's too bad they took down the "Trivia" section from the band's new website (as of the L&S release). That would have been a good place to start. Cathryn 08:32, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Longineu W. Parsons III (drummer)
[edit]Longineu W. Parsons III is mentioned as in the starting line up in the text, but is missing from the Initial lineup list for Midget Tossing Section (4.1).
- Well, then, fix it! ;)
- What? You didn't? Fine, fine, I'll go do it. Cathryn 08:33, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Lights and Sounds
[edit]This section needs to be edited for neutrality. The tone may be appropriate for a fan message board, but not a general information encyclopedia. Cathryn 08:17, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Still to do:
[edit]Okay. As I see it, things are looking good--only a few changes still need to be made to whip this into shape:
- Expand and clarify introduction
- (Possibly) further clean up History (correct tone and flow; get source for MTV News citation)
- Clean up neurtality issues in Lights and Sounds under Lineup Changes (Good luck with this--it's a very touchy subject right now. Both Capitol and the band members themselves have been pretty mum about the whole thing. The MTV source already cited in the section may be the only place to get good information.)
- Figure out what in the world to do with the Trivia section (Again, good luck. I'll try to see if I can get the info from the Trivia section from the old website, but I'm not sure I'll be able to. To whomever tackles this: please keep in mind that if you can't cite a source, it doesn't belong on Wikipedia--save it for the Yellowcard message boards.)
Any other ideas? What else needs to be done? Hooray for cleaning up such an awkwardly worded, opinionated mess! :) Cathryn 09:32, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Apart from what you already said, the whole Lineup changes section needs to be re-written in prose and incorporated into the History. Anything notable from the Trivia should be referenced and merged into the History as well. --Fritz S. (Talk) 10:26, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- I like the merging ideas, although the article won't be very long after it's done. :) What does anyone else think? Cathryn 23:34, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well, we shouldn't leave poorly written/formatted sections in just so the article is long. --HarryCane 10:22, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
I cleaned up the trivia. The criteria I used was very simple:
- Information about the band members does not belong here, it belongs on each member's Wikipedia page.
- Information about songs and videos do not belong here, they belong on the album and/or singles Wikipedia pages.
That leaves two pieces of trivia, which need to be cited. Jtrost (T | C | #) 14:27, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- The first piece of trivia is mentioned on the Yellowcard DVD.JaymzSpyhunter 01:17, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
- Ocean Avenue should be added to the album list as it is missing.
Vandalism

"Special Edition" Album
[edit]The Japanese release of the "Ocean Avenue" album was released with the name "Special Edition" attached and comes with four bonus tracks and the musical score of the song "Ocean Avenue" plus a couple of videos (viewable on PC) it seems. I have a copy of this disc and | here is another reference (with tracklist). I'm not sure whether this should be added just on the Ocean Avenue page or as a separate album or just as trivia or what... My knowledge of the band is very very limited (buying the CD is the first look at them I've taken) so I'd feel wrong adding the information myself. ProdigySim 09:11, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

'Down on my Head'
[edit]Can anyone confirm for sure this is the next single? Considering Rough Landing Holly came out in August, I'm skeptical about a third single coming out 6 months after the second one...SilverNightFire 03:22, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
New pictures
[edit]I've added a couple of new pictures, including one to the infobox at the top of the page. If someone who knows more about how to clean up the code than I do would like to take a whack at them, I'd be thrilled. Cathryn 02:33, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Genre
[edit]Please leave pop punk first as it is their main genre. They said that they are not punk rock in an interview so don't have punk rock first.Pop punk / alternative rock is good.
Ummm, no it isn't 'their main genre'. The only records of theirs that come close to being pop-punk are One for the Kids, The Underdog EP and Ocean Avenue. Their first 2 albums are hard rock with elements of metal (LP's drumming is around twice as hard/fast, heavier guitars, Ben Dobson's screaming vocals), and Still Standing EP is starting to break away from it to a wierd combination of it all. And as for L&S, thats what the alternative label is for. Not pop, not hard rock, and not pop-punk.
And what about Paper Walls? Is this album Pop punk or not? I ask cause I haven't heard the album...
Fair use rationale for Image:1223400577 m.jpg
[edit]Image:1223400577 m.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Ocean Avenue Bonus Disk
[edit]I'm getting frustrated trying to understand this bonus disk, there are very many different tracklistings in different places. Some have an Untitled Track - 3:35 at the end and some don't. Also, it's never put clearly on some tracklistings which are videos and which aren't, i'm getting very frustrated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.69.36.81 (talk • contribs)
- First, sign your post using ~~~~. Second, I'm a bit confused by what this has to do with anything. Are you asking us for the track listings of the bonus disk? If so, should you be on the disk's page asking this? Imasleepviking 20:42, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

- I didn't say you were vandalizing it, Moe. I said Rocker7777 was vandalizing the article by screwing up the paragraphs and such. I know why you removed the images, so that's why I added summaries and non-free image descriptions to the image pages. Maybe if you would've checked for that, you would've known not to remove the images. And as for the one page with rules and such for non-free content, It says "Multiple items are not used if one will suffice." And one will not suffice as there is more than one album. So I will put the images back up and unless u show me proof that they are not allowed, I will keep reinserting them, because I feel they are an important part of the article. Wikipedia is not a majority rule or a democracy. It doesn't matter how many people agree with you on something that is against policy. The images being posted on the article are a clear violation of fair use policy and I have removed them. I'd rather not have to block people over this, but if the continued disruptive edits, personal attacks and fair use violations continue, have no doubt that I'm going to. Pete Mosely
[edit]For a long time, people have been adding piano as one of Mosely's jobs in the band. I really don't think it's necessary to add this because there are barely any songs that have piano in them. - Nope, it's completely correct. There's a citation if I'm not mistaken. Hopefully the band will get back together, but they said they need a break. It's not like blink-182's hiatus though. The members are still getting along, they just said they need a break to get in touch with themselves or something like that. They'll be back together within a year, I predict. Releasing two albums in one year? Album names?
[edit]The page says "The band said they are going to release two albums at the same year, but this plan was still unsure" and then under Discography lists two albums, one named "Going Home" and the other titled "Yellowcard." [edit]Why have the actual pages for their first three albums been removed from Wikipedia altogether? 108.52.237.96 (talk) 18:06, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
- They fail WP:NMUSIC: "All articles on albums, singles or other recordings must meet the basic criteria at the notability guidelines, with significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject" and "Notability aside, a standalone article is only appropriate when there is enough material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; articles unlikely ever to grow beyond stubs should be merged into the artist's article or discography." Lawsuit again and apper JuiceWRLD?
[edit]Shouldn’t this be mentioned in the page somewhere? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:100F:B115:4492:3C06:6DBA:208B:D608 (talk) 07:04, 27 October 2021 (UTC)

lack of important info
[edit]there's no mention that this band invented the "E C D E" progression and that every other musician that uses this progression was/will be sued by the band 81.96.160.84 (talk) 08:53, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
edit: and please, don't think you'll get away with it by (for example) dying. the band will be more than happy to sue your family while they try to organise your funeral. 81.96.160.84 (talk) 08:57, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
Childhood Eyes getting its own page
[edit]Is the new EP noteworthy enough to get its own page? I will gladly assist in putting it together, but I'm not as tactful at creating pages as i am adding to pre-existing content.--Shamus248 (talk) 06:23, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
