The road to civility begins with knowledge. The American media and vocabulary in general is riddle with humiliating terms. It is important that at least people understand the meaning of these words/phrases before they use it indiscriminately.

  • That's all fine and good, but how does it help satisfy Wikipedia's verifiability policy? --Kinu t/c 20:22, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am very doubtful of this term's authenticity. It seems to be a wholly Japanese media creation, in part paranoid about racism against Japanese people, and in part a kind of smearing or slander against Japanese women who date non-Japanese (ie. implying they are 'whores'). This apparently fictional term which shows up nowhere in English kills two birds with one stone for the Japanese media.--Soda80 (talk) 22:42, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Does a term like this really meet wikipedia's guidelines for notability, or is wikipedia really just filled with a bunch of japanophiles who can't distinguish between relevant information and the foreign pop culture they overdose on? Wiki fighter99 (talk) 05:23, 28 July 2009 (UTC)signature?[reply]

It has been covered in quite some depth by various scholars, so it's not merely "foreign pop culture". If you're not interested, don't read it, and go work in another subject area. cab (talk) 19:07, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
"It specifically refers to wealthy women who travel overseas or to foreign enclaves in Japan seeking to meet foreign men." Which is it? Refers to both men and women? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Edgyliving (talkcontribs) 17:49, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
