Name
[edit]Moving list to name. This is not the primary use. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 02:13, 23 December 2019 (UTC)
Parallel usage
[edit]The pronunciation of Yasmin is often parallel with the English Jasmine.
In other words they start at distinct point but they're heading in the same direction. 2001:171B:2273:1D71:95C2:F8DC:E59:C1FD (talk) 10:04, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
Origin
[edit]A source in the Etymology section shows that the name ultimately comes from Persian (which seems to agree with other sources), yet the lead and infobox both claim Arabic origin. Are there any reliable sources showing that it was first in Arabic? Dotyoyo (talk) 00:04, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- @User:141.179.21.135: I've reverted the two types of changes you've recently made to this page:
- (1) Your changes of the origin of the name from Persian to Arabic, contrary to what is referenced in the Etymology section (A Dictionary of First Names 2 ed.).
- (2) Your deletion of two people with the name: an Israeli dancer/choreographer and an Israeli singer/songwriter.
- Please don't repeat these changes without first getting consensus on this talk page. Do you have any reliable sources that show that this name originates from Arabic? Do you have a rationale for why these two people should not be mentioned on this page? Thanks. Dotyoyo (talk) 01:37, 15 September 2024 (UTC)
