I just read this above. The VERY VERY eminent Australian who identified Yarree's Family says he was the guy who saved people at Gundagai giving his name. That family lives at Gundagai and elsewhere and they are recorded in the other places they live at, both in old newspapers, in books and in oral history. You do not know what you are talking about at all. By the way too, Gundagai area Aboriginal do not use the term "indiginous (sic). They prefer use of the term "Aboriginal" as they have always been called that. It is correct to put a capital letter at the start of the words Aboriginal and/or Indigenous as a mark of respect to this group of First Australians nationwide. Johneen Treanor Jones - Gundagai.

The above is a total troll the poor thing. Stop trolling. I am a first cousin 5 times removed of Dr Adoniah Vallack of the Rattlesnake Expedition and his brother William was the NSW Deputy Colonial Secretary. His sister, Albertine, was one of the first women to study medicine at Cambridge University and Albertine and her husband who was a Minister of Religion, ran the Plymouth Hsp that housed the French Political prisoners. Albertine is a French name and the Vallacks had some French/Norman Ancestry. I didn't know that about William Vallack till about 5 years ago but it explained the likely source of some of the early invasion of Australia by the Brits stories that my dad mentioned. I was born when my dad was 65 and he was born in 1886 so he was from an era a long while ago. My dad was murdered at age 76 for no reason by a drunken 42 year old cousin of Yarri's, Jack Goodsall now dead, when I was 10 so I did not get to ask questions of my dad as an adult. My paternal g.g.gran was Diana Matilda Vallack Cornish of Stoke Dameral/Kingsand/Rame. Diana was the mum of my g.gran who came to Australia on her own as an immigrant at age 16, who likely did not want an Irish surname so they changed their surname to Jones when she married my g.grandad, John Treanor (Jones) also a 16 year old to Australia but as a convict. The document I have that established the spelling of Treanor and that it was my great grans 'other' surname refers to the connection to the by then located at Sydney, Vallacks through John Treanor Jones' wife Rosina Curtis. That Curtis family were Royalists and little wonder. By coincidence, John McArthur the wool baron was also born at Stoke Damerel (Plymouth/The Royal Dockyard), and the McArthurs had very large land holdings around Gundagai and their stock came here in the 1820s. Understanding Yarri

Yarri, who rescued a few people from the 1852 Gundagai Flood, went back to where his camp was to the south of the Murrumbidgee River at Gundagai, when he was dying and lay down to die. He is recorded in the old newspapers as dragging himself from Gundagai hospital to his camp, a distance of some miles. Going back to home country is a thing Aboriginal people like to do if they can when they are dying. Yarri ended up back in hospital though, died and was allegedly buried in the Gundagai cemetery though there is a record in the old newspapers that he was buried near to his camp. Where Yarri's camp was on the south side of the Murrumbidgee at Gundagai is very consistent to the Coonong part of Yarri's Coonong Denamundinna traditional name. Backed up by my Mum's (granddaughter of 1852 flood survivors), knowledge of just who Yarri was and wasn't, and that family's surname, it is obvious that Coonong Denamundinna was Yarree of the 1852 Gundagai flood and the murder of Sally McCleod and the terrible mistreatment of others of Yarree's female liasons. The Gundagai Yarri statue committee didnt bother to recognise at least two other Aboriginal rescuers, Tommy Davis and Long Jimmy. When the Brungle component of that statue committeee began their statue quest they were putting forward a Brungle Yarri as the 1852 flood Yarri as Sue Bulger, Aboriginal Woman and former Tumut mayor knew someone in Sydney who knew Yarri was at Brungle at some point. It has since beeen found by the Brungle people that THAT Yarri was John Brown who had no connection to the 1852 Gundagai Flood. The statue committee had no real idea who Yarri, the 1852 flood guy was. Then up popped me saying that Yarri's direct descendants still live at Gundagai, told to me by that family, by my mum then substantiated a few years back by a very very very eminent Australian. I would not say who Yarri's direct descendants are though as that is up to those people to say who they are, not me. Me not outing Yarri's descendant family then stopped a Cross of Valour award being made. Gundagai nominated a Cross of Valour award as a tourist attraction but 'Its an Honour' a section of the Australian Dept of Prime Minister and Cabinet, who makes that award, declined to make the award as the Gundagai award nominators could not say who Yarri's direct descendants are. I was a council/workshop meeting the other day and one person there wanted to know more about a sacred Aboriginal hill here knowing I know that content. Well, instead of dropping that wish she has in my hearing, why does she not go find out herself via research, maybe asking an Aboriginal person, getting better educated or via other means. She might even channel my dad who knew via his 70 year residence at Gundagai. Some Gundagai promotion people expect to just be able to access restricted information as though it is some delusional right they have.

The only people who helped Yarri when he was old and very unwell, was my dad's first cousin's, (no times removed), family, the Deightons of the Royal Oak Hotel at South Gundagai which hotel was near Yarri's camp. That record is in the old Gundagai newspapers of the time, on 'Trove'. The Deightons took Yarri food and shelter after he had crawled back to his South of the Murrumbidgee River country, after leaving Gundagai hospital and crawling 'home' to die. The Deightons cared for that very unwell Aboriginal human being as he was so unwell and no one else Aboriginal or non Aboriginal in the area would assist him out of any sense of humanity. Today I am again being stalked by someone who seems to have some issue about me not being a fan of the paedophile and murderer, Yarri. I am never a fan of anyone who kills and abuses Aboriginal and non Aboriginal females or European explorers given the bounty that European exploration has delivered to Australia's Aboriginal people while at the same time acknowledging that Australia's Aboriginal people also had some very negative impacts from European invasion of Australia, and I'd wonder what the ethics of this ridiculous Gundagai stalker stalker are???? The Terrible Gundagai Newspaper and Cr Craig Comelin Former Chair NSWALC

Former Chair of the NSWALC, Cr Craig Cromelin, who attended the unveiling of the Jacky and Yarri statue at Gundagai in June 2017, was reported as saying similar to: "blue eyed, blond haired non Aboriginal rescuers of people in Australia were given medals and Jacky and Yarri were given cheap medallions". I do not have a copy of that local paper as I put it in the bin where it belonged when I read that as it was such a racist, biased claim against brave non Aboriginal rescuers of people in colonial Australia that the bin was the only place to put that rubbish.

The reality is that the 1852 flood at Gundagai happened in 1852. Yarri, Jacky and Tommy Davis (one of the other Aboriginal rescuers who has been ignored along with Long Jimmy), were given what was available at the time i.e. breastplates inscribed with their deeds.

After the wreck of the pilot schooner 'Rip' at the entrance to Port Phillip Bay on 15 July 1873, it was decided to form a humane society similar to the UK Royal Humane Society to help minimise loss of life and to reward those who saved lives. This is in 1873, 21 years after the 1852 Gundagai flood. The Royal Humane Society of Victoria was formed and this society subsequently became The Royal Humane Society of Australasia. There was no such society prior to 1873 to make awards to anyone. Why did not Aboriginal people of eastern Australia form such a society in 1852 to award something other than breastplates to the 1852 flood rescuers? If Craig Comelin did make those really off comments that were published in the terrible Gundagai paper in June/July 2017 about blue eyed, blond haired people, well he is good on stupid news eh. It may have been the Gundagai paper made that racist comment up though as that paper publishes a heap of rubbish most editions. I stopped buying that dreadful publication after I read that blue-eyed, blond hair rubbish.

My grandfather saved a young boy's life from a bunyip in 1889, and several lives from a Gundagai flood at Gundagai in 1891. My grandfather had fair hair and light coloured eyes and no Aboriginal ancestry. He was Australian born with his parents from Lincolnshire, UK. He could not swim but went out onto flooded streams to save lives. He was awarded for his bravery firstly by the RHSA and presented that award by the NSW Governor and secondly in 1891 he was awarded the silver medal of the RHSA for multiple acts of bravery. Does Craig Comlin imagine my grandfather did not deserve those awards because Aboriginal people were awarded breastplates in 1852. How weird.

I have a copy of the RHSA book that traces that society's history as it formed part of another 'honour award' in my immediate family. It is cited Colin Bannister,ed. 1996. "7000 Brave Australians: A History of the Royal Humane Society of Australasia 1874-1994'. The Royal Humane Society of Australasia Inc. Fast Impressions Australia, Cheltenham, Victoria, Australia. p.6. Patron-in-Chief of the RHSA is Her Majesty the Queen.

The Gundagai newspaper is a total disgrace for trying to dishonour Australian bravery awardees by trying to bring in racist rubbish as it published in June/July 2017.

Hypocitical Gundagai newspaper re Honour Awards

Now the lieing Gundagai newspaper is publishing articles about Cyril Longmore and his brother Bert Longmore. Cyril was awarded the order of Leopold by the King of the Belgiums for this efforts re Belgium in WWI plus the Croix de Guerre. Bert had his head blown off his shoulders at Quinn's Post, Gallipoli, on 1 August, 1915. That dreadful Gundagai paper who slings off at non Aboriginal bravery awardees, then publishes content by someone who claims he was at Vietnam when Long Tan happened, when he wasn't, and is now into more of my family (first cousins once removed) Bert and Cyril Longmore, one article quoting the Lang Tan Transgressor re Bert, whose Mum's name was True, and who were not into lies or liars such as the dreadful Gundagai paper and its Long Tan misrepresentations put forward to big note their miserable selves.
