fires

[edit]

This unexplained edit by JarrahTree appears to re-introduces some problems that I fixed in my previous edits. In particular:

  • The "2016 fire" section mentions (somewhat vaguely) that "Yarloop had fires" then cites four references, none of which are in 2016.
  • The article is about the workshops specifically (not Yarloop in general), but two of the references do not mention the workshops at all - only Yarloop. To suggest that fires must have affected the workshops is synthesis. If they did not affect the workshops, then they don't belong in this article about the workshops.

I suggest that my version is more specific ("early 1900s", rather than "over time"), relevant (about the workshop, not the town), and a more accurate and verifiable description of fires related to the workshops. Mitch Ames (talk) 13:26, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you cannot do anything but follow my edits, maybe you should find something else to do - wikipedia has 6,241,471 articles - go find something else mitch.

I challenge you to find a reference that actually separates yarloop workshops from the town (where it was inside) - otherwise please, will you desist, it doesnt help anyone... JarrahTree 13:56, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unless the reference says that the entire town was threatened or affected, then the link from "some part of Yarloop" to "Workshop" is WP:SYN at best, speculation or guessing at worst.
Sensible discussion at Talk:Yarloop Workshops please. Mitch Ames (talk) 14:26, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
nope - if you dont get it mitch, I am very sorry I cannot help you. If you cannot let go of the fact that your request for details that are irrelevent, and the way the journalism worked in the past and how your lack of interest in the issue of something that goes both ways of assumptions - the workshops in the town and the town with workshops - do not meet your request for a form of reference mentioning the town - all is lost. removed text, due to pointless attention seeking. JarrahTree 00:09, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Why would this source https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/87146458 be removed in 1906 Yarloop was Millars and the workshops were part of the timber yard. Yarloop was created by Millars for its timber workers primarily for those working in the workshops and yard that supported operations around the area. It wasnt until Bunning brought Millars that the town and workshops became separate entities. Gnangarra 06:34, 7 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I removed it because the newspaper article does not mention the workshops (the subject of the Wikipedia article) - either being on fire, damaged by fire, or threatened by fire. Mitch Ames (talk) 06:53, 7 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You are creating a Synth by requiring a specificity that didnt exist in 1906, it was all Millars yard. Gnangarra 08:23, 7 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
