Feedback from Classmates
[edit]A couple of notes from reading over the article:
- In the first sentence, the word 'typical' is confusing. Typical to what? This modifier should probably by removed if it cannot be explained better: "Yaquina Bay (/jəˈkwɪnə/ yə-KWIN-ə) is a typical coastal estuarine comnunity"
- The sentence "The Yaquina Bay in Newport is a popular tourist destination along the Pacific Coast Highway, with a variety of interesting biological and geological features." should exclude the last part "with a variety of interesting biological and geological features". It is a broad statement that is not fact.
- In the section 'Economy' and the sentence "As of 2014, the highest percentage of the Newport workforce is employed in management, business, science, and arts (36.7%), while only 8.9% are employed in natural resources, construction, and maintenance.", please include the percentages for management, business, and science.
- In the section 'Upwelling', please provide one or two sources for the claims.
- In the 'Physical Characteristics' section, consider adding more information about the stratification of the estuary. That's important for biological factors. To start, check out this paper, particularly the paper's Methods: Study Area subheading. (Lemagie, E. P. & Lerczak, J. A. A Comparison of Bulk Estuarine Turnover Timescales to Particle Tracking Timescales Using a Model of the Yaquina Bay Estuary. Estuaries and Coasts 38, 1797–1814 (2015).)
Good job so far! --|SeaMonsterFromTheDeep
- Hello! What a clean and professional looking page! I'm wondering if you really need subheadings under History of Yaquina Bay and Environmental concerns section. I think it would be fine to just have your content directly under the top level heading. Cheers! Cold water kid (talk) 19:08, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
OSU Wikieducation
[edit]For our Wiki Education project, we added information for this page. We incorporated existing information from the page before it was edited by us (pronunciation, links to the Bay Bridge and Newport, the "See Also" section, and picture). Huynhsa (talk) 23:51, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks! That is an impressive contribution. I see there is some minor work needed, mostly style issues like capitalization and punctuation goes before a

construction, not after. But all in all, a very valuable series of contributions! Thank you! —EncMstr (talk) 02:00, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you! Style issues duly noted. I'll work on that right now. Huynhsa (talk) 17:12, 2 March 2016 (UTC)
