[edit]I don't think that Yankees Universe should be an article on it's own. If anything, it should be a section of Yankees --Brewcrewer 14:31, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
If Red Sox Nation can be a page, why can't Yankees Universe? It is charity, has 501(3)c status and actually is tied to something (I would believe Red Sox Nation is more of just a pop culture reference). This is both a legitimate non-profit group and a pop culture reference. I can find at least 10 references to the term in established media sources such as The New York Post and The Daily News. I can move it or add to it, let me know what is right. I am new; just trying to present an arguement for it's having it's own space. I don't think it belongs merged in with the Yankees team page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TunaWuna (talk • contribs) 22:28, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- Red Sox Nation is a well known pop-culture reference which validates its own article. Until Yankee Universe earns the same recognition it should not be an article on its own. The fact that it's a charity makes no difference. Every charity cannot have it's own article. See Wikipedia:Notability for the guidelines of what is notable for a Wikipedia article. I think that its best place would be as a section in Yankees. But I guess that if you wish you to leave it as a seperate article and add to it, then do so. But watch out, it might get nominated for deletion. If it does, make sure to argue for a merge into Yankees. --Brewcrewer 06:49, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- I see the point, but not every charitable orgnization has famous spokespeople such as Yankees players, the general manager [Brian Casham] and gets constant TV publicity on networks such as [The Yes Network]. If this isn't large enough for a page, what is? The rules are very nebelous so it's hard for new people to tell. Everything I put out here seems to be challenged and I don't know why. It does not make one want to contribute. There is some pretty thin stuff covered on Wikipedia -- thinner than the stuff I have been putting out here but there are no questions about that. Fan section
[edit]Why was the fan section removed? Look at the bottom of the page under "Gatherings of Baseball fans" and both the Red Sox and Cardinals have several famous fans listed (not to mention the unsourced Cardinals list). I will put the Yankees fans back up and if someone feels the need to take it down, then you better take the Cardinals and Red Sox lists down as well. Or create a list for every Major League team.
