He is a terrorist. That's all.
Everything you read in this page is a lie. 2A0D:6FC0:9C9:7700:6DB1:DD58:386D:E49B (talk) 13:54, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
Honestly, the "politician" description seems laughable. This is why people keep objecting to it here. It stands out immediately upon reading. Drsruli (talk) 22:56, 8 June 2024 (UTC)

Yahya Sinwar is a terrorist and a convicted murderer. Please edit. Drsruli (talk) 13:15, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

There's a new BBC article with a lot of info about his personal life and I wanna see some incorporated here, as a bio.[1]
In the fourth paragraph at the top, make a new line with the following: Sinwar's personality has been described as both charming and brutal. His reputation for violence gave him the nickname "Butcher of Khan Younis". Pristaccident (talk) 16:32, 27 November 2023 (UTC)

The European Union on Tuesday Februar 13th added Hamas Gaza leader Yahya Sinwar to its terrorist sanctions blacklist over the October 7 attacks on Israel. The move means that the accused mastermind of the attacks is subject to having his assets frozen in the 27-nation bloc and bans EU citizens from conducting transactions with him. Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas is already listed as a terrorist organization by the EU. Under Hamas Israel war, please replace the first paragraph with this text:
On October 7, 2023, Hamas, under the leadership of Sinwar, initiated a surprise attack on Israel, resulting in the death of more than 1,200 individuals, mostly civilians, and the abduction of over 250 people to Gaza.
The attack also involved the assault of numerous women, the killing of children, the elderly, and the burning of houses.
By March 2024, Sinwar remained opposed to any exchange of the kidnapped individuals for terrorists prisoners held by Israel. As of March 2024, 134 Israelis are still being held by Sinwar and Hamas.

The last sentence is incorrect. It currently says:
On 20 May 2024, an arrest warrant was launched against Sinwar by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on several counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
ICC arrest warrants aren't "launched." And as of 11 June, none has been issued against Sinwar. A correct statement would be:
On 20 May 2024, International Criminal Court (ICC) Prosecutor Karim Khan announced he was requesting an arrest warrant against Sinwar on multiple counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity. ScottWade56 (talk) 06:51, 11 June 2024 (UTC)

Accused war criminal
Should be added in the opening statement that he is a Palestinian politician and an accused war criminal by the international criminal court. Burying it in the later sections shows political bias of the editors and undermines Wikipedia’s credibility as a serious source of information. 100.6.108.194 (talk) 22:32, 28 August 2024 (UTC)

- My suggestion would be as follows:
- > Yehya Sinwar, is a terrorist leader and Palestinian politician who has been leading Hamas, the Sunni Islamist political and military organization that rules the Gaza Strip, since 2017.
- Instead of the current one which is,
- > Yehya Sinwar, is a Palestinian politician who has been leader of Hamas, the Sunni Islamist political and military organization that rules the Gaza Strip, since 2017.

For everyone who wishes to edit this article with much more details.
On 17:58, 14 October 2023 , I added a version which covers much more details about Yahya Sinwar, about his family, about his youth, ideology, the fact that he murdered people himself, etc. Unfortunately, probably from political reasons, some users decided to revert it. If you are an editor, check it out, I also added many sources, please add at least some of the facts mentioned there. 46.120.7.7 (talk) 09:50, 18 October 2023 (UTC)

Edit Request: Update article with confirmed reports of Sinwar's assassination
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
Yahya Sinwar has "likely" been successfully assassinated by Israeli forces, according to Israeli officials, with the chances being described as "very high". See these reports by Ynet: English article and Hebrew article which include (caution: morbid) verified photographs showing the Hamas leader's remains. Outlets such as BBC news and CNN have not reported this yet, but Israeli media is widely reporting it, as per the above. Neutral Editor 645 (talk) 14:56, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
- The article as stands is perfectly able to communicate this. There's no need at current to update the article until this is confirmed, it already mentions Israel is attempting to confirm the death. 110.20.230.22 (talk) 15:00, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
- To avoid repeating the same response, please see the comment chain below. Neutral Editor 645 (talk) 15:25, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
- Wikipedia isn't a news agency. Stating that Sinwar may have been killed is sufficient until sources widely report that he is actually dead. Cortador (talk) 15:22, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
- Western outlets are now reporting this too. BBC News: "Israel 'increasingly confident' Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar killed in Gaza", CNN: "Man killed in Gaza operation believed to be Hamas leader, sources say".
- At the very least, the article can be updated to reflect this higher confidence in the Hamas leader's death, as full formal verification may take days or even weeks.
- Note that these are live reports URLs, so they may be subject to future change. Neutral Editor 645 (talk) 15:25, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
- I think we should wait until its fully confirmed. 2A02:14F:175:4ADE:A0BA:6EA8:E97:B10E (talk) 16:03, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
- No, they are not. They are reporting that Israel, an involved party, thinks Sinwar is dead, which is is different from reporting in their own voice that Sinwar is dead. You are misrepresenting the sources. Cortador (talk) 16:09, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
