Armament

[edit]

The armament section of the specification refers to Soviet/Russian missiles carried by the original Soviet Badger, not by the Xian H6 - should they be here? Nigel Ish 22:19, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The entire specs section was directly ported over from the Tupolev Tu-16 article (and thus would be mostly correct for early H-6s). If you can find specs for the H-6 itself, feel free to fix it. :-) - Aerobird Target locked - Fox One! 00:49, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal

[edit]

The Xian H-6K page seems, to me, to be an unnecessary page for the variant that would be better off folded into this article, thoughts? - The Bushranger (talk) 15:53, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, this separate article is completely pointless.--Hj108 (talk) 18:04, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This has already been discussed before at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aircraft/Archive 25#Xian H-6K. The main problem we found was that a merge would leave out too much information (we can't have a 2,000 byte article on the H-6 contain another 1,500 bytes of info on the H-6K, so that it takes up 60% of the article, so a merger would obviously have to cut down on information), while keeping the article was rather redundant, so we didn't know what to do. -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 03:35, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good points, but I think it might be possible. I may play around in the sandbox for a bit seeing if it can be done without either short-shrifting the 'K or drowning the other variants. - The Bushranger (talk) 04:53, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Can't wait to see the results. Feel free to ask me anything if you need to. -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs email 06:07, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
After eliminating excess veribage, cruft, and NPOV issues, I was able to distill the H-6K article to a suitable size for merging into the main H-6 here. My proposal can be found here, feel free to comment and to edit it as well. :) - The Bushranger (talk) 23:16, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Merge it. Unless H-6K start to lob missile in combat or spotted doing patrols like B-52, we will never know its importance in PLAAF. Jim101 (talk) 15:02, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Consider it done. - The Bushranger (talk) 08:26, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Latest update on H-6 and its numbers

[edit]

According to Forbes. There are currently at least 231 H-6 of different types in service of the PLAAF.

The Chinese Air Force Sure Is Buying A Lot Of Bombers

https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidaxe/2020/11/16/the-chinese-air-force-sure-is-buying-a-lot-of-bombers/?sh=43eb6f5e4987

According to Forbes: "Just three countries have bombers. The Russian air force has 135 Tu-22s, Tu-95s and Tu-160s. The U.S. Air Force operates 156 B-1s, B-2s and B-52s. China’s bomber fleet is bigger by far. According to a new count by plane-spotter Thomas Shugart, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force possesses as many as 231 H-6s."

In the light of this. I am updating the article according to reference.

Armament II

[edit]

There is a list of missiles carried by this aircraft, but about half of them mention nothing about having air launched variants available, and are ground or ship based systems. One has an air launched variant but the article names and links to the original surface to surface missile. Idumea47b (talk) 00:44, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Range

[edit]

Hi all,

I notice the range stated is less than 2 x combat range. And the web site cited for specifications has been dead for like a decade or more. Is there a better source with update info? Thanks, Now wiki (talk) 17:36, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
