XenodevriesiaXenodevriesia strelitziicola – The article is principally about the species. The article even mentions that the species was previously classified under another genus (Devriesia) until recently (2019) so it makes sense for this article to be about the species, not its genus, and titled accordingly. Since genus and family are both monotypic, it's unlikely the article would acquire information about other species in the genus. (The species redirects to this article so the new title would require a technical move.) – Scyrme (talk) 15:33, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Scyrme Sure, agreed. I'm the author of the page and I have no issue with this. I was told that the page of a monotypic genus should belong to the genus, and not the species, so that's how I proceeded with every page, but I don't really care. The move has my approval. ☽ Snoteleks17:47, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Snoteleks: Do you remember who told you? Maybe there's a guideline I'm not aware of. – Scyrme (talk) 19:52, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Scyrme I found the original thread here: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Fungi/Archive_12#Do_monotypic_species_articles_have_to_be_replaced_by_their_respective_genus'_article?_(unrelated:_I_would_like_to_join_the_project) where I was directed to the convention at WP:MONOTYPICFLORA and WP:MONOTYPICFAUNA, where it says that "the article (if there is no common name) should go under the scientific name of lowest rank, but no lower than the monotypic genus". So genus takes preference over species. I guess this is enough reason not to go ahead with the move. ☽ Snoteleks21:06, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! My mistake then. Withdrawn. – Scyrme (talk) 21:17, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
