Removing this page from part of AmusementParkProject

I am going to remove this page from being part of the Amusement Park Project, because it is an archaeological site, not to be confused with Xcaret Park. I will ensure that the Amusement Park Project link is on the Talk page for the Xcaret Park. I just checked on the Xcaret Park page, and the Amusement Park Project banner is already there.

Unusual Architectural Depictions

I've been doing general research to see what all I can dig up about Xcaret. I found a source entitled "The Unusual Sculptures of Telantunich, Yucatán: Phalli and the Concept of Masculinity among the Ancient Maya" by Traci Ardren and David R. Hixson. While this includes general knowledge about Mayan culture, it has a chart which says that both phallic-representative portraits and architecture have been found in a cave in Xcaret. IPA Pronunciation

I think it would be good if we could get the IPA pronunciation of Xcaret up there.

Review and Suggestions by MTA student

This article would be more informative if it had more on the history of Xcaret. The article is lacking historical facts and only briefly touches on its "historical significance." I think it would be useful to look into the mayan culture and their practices which were once found there. You could also provide a description of the ancient mayan villages along with important landmarks which are currently found there; such as the mexican cemetary. I also think it would improve the article greatly if more information was added to the historical significance area. Maybe include more detail about what the uses and meanings were for each of the structures, try and re-create what life may have been like for the people living in Xcaret. Include their religious beleifs and practices, their agricultural or other methods of feeding the people, information about the possible rulers of the site, and perhaps even the relationship they had with surrounding settlements, wars and so on. Under archaeological finds, the quote is long and wordy, it would be easier to understand if you summarized the information and put it in your own words, and explained the significance of the information. Thanks for the helpful reviews and suggestions! I haven't been able to find any specific, reliable resources about the history of Xcaret in particular, but it definitely would be helpful if the article had more information about the history of the site. I wasn't sure about writing about general Mayan practices in the specific article. Perhaps I will link to a general page about the Maya. I haven't been able to find any more information about what life would have been like in Xcaret in particular.
