Episode title
[edit]There's an issue with the listing for Episode 104, "The Irish Version," which is listed on Wikipedia as "The Irish Job." It's listed that way because Shaw sent it out that way, and has it listed that way on the sites. But it's wrong. How do I know? I'm the guy who wrote, and named, the episode. "The Irish Version" is the English translation of a title I took from Vol.18 of the original BD's, "La Version Irlandaise."
I don't know if the error came from Shaw or from the English Production company, and I don't know how the error got started (except that my 2nd episode for XIII is called "The Bank Job" and maybe that started it) but the net result now is that people are referencing the incorrect source as "proof." In this case, though, the IMDB has it right and Wikipedia has it wrong.
I used to write a TV blog -- heywriterboy.blogspot.com -- but it's fallow now and I'm not going to post for the first time in seven months to make such a small correction.
So I'm going to try one more time to change it back, and I"m sure somebody will undo the correction, citing the incorrect source from Shaw's releases & website. But ... ask yourself why Vol.18 of the BD was called "The Irish Version" and not "The Irish Job," and why a show would change one word of a title like that they got from a source.
It's a funny world, the internet, where you can't correct something you know personally to be true because people parrot back incorrect sources. I'm starting to understand the Bible a lot more.
Denis McGrath (aka Heywriterboy) Heywriterboy (talk) 23:22, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
- Isn't it just stupid that policy here is to knowingly include false information because someone/thing more well known than yourself says the truth is the lie. Showcase's website [1] and iTunes [2] say it is "The Irish Job". Declarations written on Wikipedia talk pages count for nothing, no matter how well written they are, because the person behind the account on Wikipedia is not so verifiable. A well known blog known to be written by the author of the episode in question, well that is the top of the food chain.
The Wikipedia account heywriterboy could be held by some 14 year old girl in Belleville who thought it fun to impersonate her favourite tv writer. heywriterboy isn't a legal name and it isn't trademarked so it could happen. If it is really you Denis and it is so important to insist upon it here why is it not important enough to put somewhere it is known to be coming from you and can be used as a reference?
It could be as easy as, "This bitch on Wikipedia is insisting upon a reference for the 4th episode of XIII being 'The Irish Version'. It is; Shaw made a typo and it spread everywhere.", or you could go all-in and revive your blog.
The episode summary should appear on ReelzChannel's website in about a week from my writing this. If it says "The Irish Job" then that will be all English broadcasters saying the claim here is false. If Reelz' website says "The Irish Version" then that could be cited in support of the position advanced here. If it really is you Denis then perhaps this is a good time to get in touch with the people at Reelz and ensure it is correct. Tribune Media Services does have it listed as "The Irish Version" but they are notoriously inaccurate when it comes to Canadian shows.
IMDb is not acceptable as a source. Someone succeeded in getting IMDb to say that season 3 of The Listener started on CTV in March 2012 and for months was wrong but with no real announced date they refused to remove the fake info. Or in other words, policy is presumptive of IMDb being full of gross errors (kind of like WP is).
My personal reason for being skeptical of this is because the tv show has changes to it. The XX in the comics are not the same twenty people as found in the television productions. If such a fundamental change can be permitted it is easy to believe an episode title change was intentional.
As Freddie Mercury wrote, "Put out the good and keep the bad / Don't believe all you read in the Bible". delirious & lost ☯ ~hugs~ 21:47, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
- As a bit of an update, reelz has indeed gone with "The Irish Version" for episode 4.
Incidentally the French title of episode 5 is "Bienvenue à Bitterroot", the Canadian English title is "Training Camp", and the American English title is "Bitterroot". While the translation is not exact between the Canal+ and the reelz info both are entirely different from Shaw's info on Showcase.ca. And yet on iTunes' Canadian store episode 5 is titled "Bitterroot". Perhaps this is where Pamela Davis also joins in.
I also added a section heading to this; i hope you don't mind. delirious & lost ☯ ~hugs~ 06:19, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

US airing
[edit]Starts on Reelz 9pm 6/29/2012. Don't know how to source it, just saw commercials and promos for it while watching shows on Reelz today.76.226.220.71 (talk) 20:13, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
Length of the list of characters
[edit]The character sketches are far too long and take up an extraordinarily unnecessary amount of space in the article. Not only are they excessive in length, but they contain too many in-depth plot details that could be considered spoilers. I'd fix everything myself, but I've not yet actually watched the show and wouldn't know the best things to trim. ☉ nbmatt 10:58, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
