In composing the bulk of this article over the past 12 months, two difficulties have emerged: Firstly, whether the historical spelling of the district's name ought be used for general references and for enduring features such as the brook and gorge, which is the preference of older residents, or whether the modern spelling (variant with an 'u') should be adopted for such usage. Whatever choice is made, it is clear that the variant with an 'o' ought be used when referring to Wongong farm, Wongong (railway) station and Wongong Congregational Mission Hall. Secondly, whether the article should deal with the whole of the area that has historically been considered the district known as 'Wongong', or whether the article should restrict itself to the more recently (c.1995) boundaries of the suburb known as 'Wungong'. The disadvantage of the more restricted treatment is that it creates an artificial exclusion of information that historically related to the Wongong district. The suburbs of Brookdale, Mt Richon, Darling Downs and Hilbert have only recently been formed from areas that were historically considered part of Wongong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WoonganILB (talk • contribs) 13:48, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
