Copyedit sentence that made no sense

[edit]

The second sentence of the entry read "It was originally an association of furriers respectively skinners." This makes no sense. The use of the word "respectively" requires at least two objects in a sentence, e.g. "I visited Paris and Rome, respectively." I rewrote the sentence accordingly. This text, from the subject's website, might be more instructive: " The Company developed from the medieval trade guild of the furriers: members of the guild dressed and traded furs that were used for trimming and lining the garments of richer members of society." That could be reworked into something like "The company originally was a medieval trade guild representing furriers -- those who dressed and traded furs used for trimming and lining garments of the upper class." 71.175.4.207 (talk) 14:31, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Precedence

[edit]

This entry talks quite a bit about where the Skinners' Company comes in order of precedence, without giving the faintest clue what that might mean.

Someone should probably fix.
