Dispute

[edit]

This article is in dispute with the article Undisputed Champion.

In this article, it is noted: "When a boxer holds the WBA title and also holds a world title (in the same weight division) from another major sanctioning body (the WBC, IBF, or WBO), the WBA gives special recognition to the boxer; He is recognized as the super champion" (this is in the section "Unified, undisputed, and super champions", and the first two terms are not defined.)

The former article states: "The WBA refers to a champion who holds the WBA title and one other title as the unified champion. A WBA champion who holds two other titles is an undisputed champion. A champion who holds the WBA title and three other major titles is recognized as a super champion."

Someone should correct whichever definition is wrong. TheHYPO 06:24, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dates

[edit]

This artcle claims that Nikolay Valuev is the current titleholder, and gained that title on November 7, 2009. As this date hasn't passed yet, but I don't know the correct one, someone needs to fix this.

Discrepancies on dates

[edit]

the official site (as of May 2010 list) shows some dates that differ from article. Specifically, Chris John June 27th vs April 17th; Marquez Jan 3rd vs Feb 28th; Gamboa Apr 17th vs June 28; Darchinyan May 8 2010 vs Nov 1 2008; Segura Jun 5th vs Mar 14; --Billymac00 (talk) 18:46, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Surely klitschko is the WBA super champion and th regular title is vacant? 82.40.4.248 (talk) 02:28, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sonny Bill Williams

[edit]

There is a claim on the Sonny Bill Williams page that he is the current WBA champion, as well as some dubious edits on that page. Perhaps someone from here would like to take a look. Greenman (talk) 07:26, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Gold Champion

[edit]

I think more detail is needed about exactly what that is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Warblerab295 (talkcontribs) 21:09, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Brackets

[edit]

In the current WBA world title holders table what do the numbers in brackets mean? For the males it goes champion (23), while for the females it goes champion (15). There is a similar issue in the WBC page. (Fran Bosh (talk) 20:37, 17 May 2023 (UTC))[reply]

December 2019

[edit]

In the championship fragmented subsection it says: "In December 2019 for example, they simultaneously recognized a WBA Super champion (Anthony Joshua), WBA champion (Manuel Charr), WBA interim champion (Trevor Bryan) and WBA Gold champion (Robert Helenius) in the heavyweight division".

Firstly a citation is needed, secondly an explanation is needed as to how the WBA ended up in this situation. (Fran Bosh (talk) 18:06, 20 May 2023 (UTC))[reply]
