This article contains several inaccuracies which I would like to address. I have a connection to WorldQuant and declare that I will conform with all rules of editing for connected editors.

1. The third sentence of the lead contains out of date information and as such is not a good summary of the firm. Could we remove this sentence:

WorldQuant operated the WorldQuant Challenge, where participants compete in the field of quantitative finance, and WorldQuant Accelerator, an independent portfolio manager platform. In 2015 the WorldQuant Foundation launched WorldQuant University.
Not done: This is written in the past tense, which does not suggest it is currently happening. mi1yT·C 20:45, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It is not that the challenge is not running anymore which is the issue, but whether it is notable enough to justify its inclusion in the introduction. More relevant, contemporary projects, such as the BRAIN platform, which hosts competitions such as the Global Alphathon, would be more appropriate for the introductory paragraph. Could this be added instead? WorldQuant Accelerator is still mentioned in the History section, but the mention is undue in the lede. Yuccata86 (talk) 10:52, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

2. In the section "Millennium spinoff", can we remove the quote "with the goal of creating a "stand-alone brand to help recruit quantitative talent"" as this is unsourced.

3.In the paragraph about WorldQuant Accelerator, much of this information is not accurate and the Accelerator does not exist anymore. Can this paragraph be reduced to the following, and the bold text added?

In February 2017 WorldQuant announced the launch of WorldQuant Accelerator, an independent portfolio manager platform to compete with other open source trading platforms, mainly Numerai, QuantConnect & Quantopian. At the time of its launch the new platform had 15 independent teams, with plans outlined to double that number over the next two years.[11] The new platform allowed WorldQuant's independent portfolio managers to access WorldQuant technology such as back-testing technologies and impact modeling.[11] The platform also allowed managers to retain the rights to their algorithms, a detail that Bloomberg said was "rare in the industry" and "could help WorldQuant compete for the top minds."[8] The platform is no longer active.
Partly done: Added the last sentence. The removed text is supported by the sources. mi1yT·C 20:45, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The citation quoted here (Greenwich Time) does not name any of these companies or mention competition at all, and as such this sentence contradicts No Original Research. Can this be reduced to "In February 2017 WorldQuant announced the launch of WorldQuant Accelerator, an independent portfolio manager platform." please? Yuccata86 (talk) 10:52, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

4. Can the following also be removed? It is inaccurate to say "elected" rather than appointed in any case, and this individual is no longer with the firm:

In May 2020, Gary Chropuvka has been elected as President by WorldQuant.
Not done: Again, "this isn't the case anymore" does not mean it never happened, and is not grounds for removal. If another person is in that position now, provide a source for the change and we can mention it. (It does now say "appointed".) mi1yT·C 20:45, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for changing elected to appointed. This appointment should still be removed as it is not a majorly notable event in the company's history (there is no current President role at the company), he is no longer with the company, and no other executives, even those still with the company, are mentioned in this manner. Yuccata86 (talk) 10:52, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

5. The "Services and business model" section is also inaccurate, WorldQuant does not "provide" market research or trading. Can this paragraph be reduced as follows?

WorldQuant LLC is a hedge fund[8] and a quantitative investment management firm, providing related services such as portfolio management, market research and trading. Described by the Wall Street Journal as "part of the forefront of a new quantitative renaissance in investing"[6],.[21] The firm has a "computational" approach to its quantitative trading that utilizes "data mining, statistical methods and artificial intelligence". Deep learning and artificial intelligence are used as tools to help with small-scale trading.
Not done: Bloomberg uses "offers" here instead of "provides", but (unless your argument is that you technically offer them but nobody uses them) this is supported by the source. mi1yT·C 20:45, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

6. Finally, to bring the article up to date, could we also add the AngelList investment to the "WorldQuant Ventures" section:"In December 2021 WorldQuant Ventures invested in AngelList's Early Stage Quant Fund." (see sources https://techcrunch.com/2021/12/22/angellist-just-closed-a-25m-fund-to-back-startups-based-on-hiring-velocity/ and https://thecapitalquest.com/2021/12/23/angellist-raises-25-mn-for-data-driven-vc-fund/ )

Many thanks for reviewing this request Yuccata86 (talk) 09:43, 23 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

7. Could we also add the following recent development under “Related Enterprises”?

Global Alphathon

[edit]

In 2022 WorldQuant initiated Global Alphathon, an international competition where quants build and submit alphas using WorldQuant’s BRAIN platform. (see source https://www.businessinsider.com/worldquant-coding-competition-consulting-opportunities-quants-2022-8 )

Hi @3mi1y, thank you for your response to this request. I have some thoughts on your reply which I would be very grateful if you could take a look at. These have been added as replies to your notes on the relevant points (1, 3, 4), where I disagree with some of your assessments. Thank you again for your help so far!
