Article says that artists were paid an advance, with the remainder held in escrow until the performance or the cancellation of the festival. Alongside with the announcement that the event would not proceed, the organizers suggested that the performers donate 10% of their earnings to a non-profit organization. Lang was criticized for trying to make the artists feel guilty. That paragraph later says that the artists were released from their contracts. So what ultimately happened -- did the artists got (partially) paid for not performing (as a contract stipulation)? But if the artists were released from their contracts, did that still hold? but I wish the hows and whys of that was explained. 57.140.108.18 (talk) 21:38, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Per the Varietyarticle cited there: "The artists were paid in advance, with the money being held in escrow until the festival either took place or was cancelled, sources say. That money has been released, a source tells Variety, with all of it going to the artists or their representatives." It seems like they got paid for the cancelation, and were then released from their contracts requiring them to perform at the festival. That seems to be what you are seeking, or at least what has been made public. Doc StrangeMailboxLogbook22:58, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
