Title

[edit]

Is it necessary to have this article at Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California? Outside of Wikipedia it's almost always just Woodland Hills, California (which currently redirects here). The article is clear that it's part of Los Angeles. --Mrwojo 21:04, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I assume someone disagrees since it has been moved back again... --Mrwojo 07:55, 15 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
All of the L.A. city communities are now named like this: Community Name, Los Angeles. GeorgeLouis (talk) 03:55, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a reason DeForest Kelly isn't on the list? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2606:6000:8280:1800:FCA3:939B:4FDA:A4FE (talk) 21:58, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you have a newspaper article, book, magazine article, or something like that (see WP:RS) that says he was a resident, put him on it! There might already be one in his wikipedia article, and you can copy it out of there and use it here.— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 22:03, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Where the Stars Go to Die

[edit]

Not even a passing mention of the Motion Picture & Television Country House and Hospital? What is this, some conspiracy by the Chamber of Commerce to foster the impression that scores of A-list Hollywood stars have opted to spend their sunset years in Woodland Hills simply because it's just such a wonderful, wonderful place? Countless infoboxes in countless Wikipedia tinseltown bios inform readers that the article's subject exited this life in Woodland Hills. Some of those inquiring readers will wonder what the attraction was and turn to this article for information. No, it wasn't because Woodland Hills seemed so much nicer than scrubby Brentwood or gritty old Beverly Hills or the fetid quicksand called Malibu. Fess up, folks. 66.81.243.164 (talk) 18:22, 31 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just added a sentence about the MP&TCH&H to the lead, prime real estate I believe it merits for reason noted above. 66.81.242.19 (talk) 12:00, 17 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think its worth inclusion but, add a bit and more information, background and references and then place it within the article and not in the lead! Imveracious (talk) 14:30, 17 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Reasonable people can certainly disagree about placement within the article — I appended mention onto the (inadequate) lead in large part to attract notice to the material, fully expecting someone else to judge it too much of a sore thumb where it was and relocate it, perhaps creating a new short section — but deletion of the addition in toto certainly came as a surprise. Saying that such a long-established, large and in its own right famous institution is merely "worth inclusion" strongly suggests an inappropriately promotional editorial perspective (just bluebirds and sunshine, please; old, sick and dead people are bad for business) or at least a very provincial one. A Wikipedia article about a town is supposed to be usefully informative to as wide a readership as possible, not just a puff piece tailored to suit hometown pride, real estate agents or civic boosters. Although the detailed listing of schools and practical information about the parks will be of interest to current residents and prospective homebuyers, if you do a Wikipedia search for "Woodland Hills, Los Angeles" you will find that the great majority of the (currently) 271 mentions within its articles are in connection with the passing of various film actors and technicians. I have reinstalled a revised version at the top of the "Notable people" section, where it may also serve the useful function of deterring the inclusion of some individuals who were never Woodland Hills residents in the ordinary sense. The linked article is substantial and amply supplies "more information, background and references" in their most appropriate location. 66.249.173.160 (talk) 07:16, 22 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Notables' images

[edit]

I couldn't see any reason for the removal of the images, so I restored them. BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 01:50, 20 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I removed them for a few reasons. Other neighborhood pages around LA don't have images in the notables, it looks a bit messy to my eye, and clicking through the names immediately shows the same image. Weedwhacker128 (talk) 22:00, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
