Wonderlust meaning the true form of evil and the seeker of the dead — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:1:8500:2DF:79A5:9CAF:1772:7740 (talk) 18:57, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
COI
[edit]Disambiguation text should be changed to Wonderlust, instead of Wanderlust, the spelling is obviously different. There aren't at the moment other pages on Wikipedia named Wonderlust, but there will be soon (I'm creating the second one now, Wonderlust Helsinki is an organization and festival that I work for).

- MariusPoenar, no it shouldn't. Wonderlust and Wanderlust are homophones in English. Creating spam for your employer isn't encouraged, so please don't. Cabayi (talk) 16:25, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
- @Cabayi: Interesting to learn that in some varieties of English (or at least in the variety you use) Wonderlust and Wanderlust are homophones. They certainly aren't in the version of English that I use. JBW (talk) Formerly JamesBWatson 12:55, 14 January 2020 (UTC)
Cabayi Yes, it should, Wonderlust means a lust for the sense of wonder, Wanderlust means lust for wandering. Not every word that sounds similar has a similar meaning.
Also, Wonderlust is not my employer, we are a non-profit volunteer based organization dedicated to promoting consent culture. I am making a page because Wikipedia lacks any infrastructure around sex festivals, nobody else seems to be doing it, and I can't afford to pay a contractor to do it for me.
Trust me when I say that there are thousands of things I would like to do more than to waste two days arguing online with volunteer bureaucrats.
Are you offering to make the page yourself? Can you recommend someone to make it who doesn't have conflict of interest? That would actually be helpful. MariusPoenar (talk) 12:41, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
- MariusPoenar,
- "Not every word that sounds similar has a similar meaning" - if they meant the same thing then one page woud be a redirect to the other and the reader would already be on the right page. It's precisely because they sound alike but mean different things that the link is there.
- "we are a non-profit volunteer based organization" - Read the COI advice you were given on your talk page yesterday. A conflict of interest does not depend on paid employment. You deny your COI while simultaneously claiming a control over their purse strings - "I can't afford to pay a contractor to do it for me" - that's not a credible position.
- "there are thousands of things I would like to do more than to waste two days arguing online" - me too.
- "Are you offering to make the page yourself?" - No.
- "Can you recommend someone" - You could try asking at Wikipedia:Requested articles.

- Cabayi,
- "It's precisely because they sound alike but mean different things that the link is there."
- I disagree with your premise. There is a link to Wanderlust because there was and is no disambiguation page for Wonderlust yet so whoever (or whatever indexing script) added the first thing that sounded similar when searching for the word.
- Someone's ignorance of english language vocabulary does not retroactively make the meanings of two words identical.
- Cabayi,
- I will create the Wonderlust (disambiguation) page but need to make the Wonderlust (organization) and Wonderlust (festival) page, and I'm only now picking up the necessary skills. If you volunteer to do it or know someone who can, that would be appreciated, it would save me a lot of time and bother.
- "Read the COI advice you were given on your talk page yesterday. A conflict of interest does not depend on paid employment."
- I definitely did not at any point deny my COI, I have followed the rules stated in the page you linked and disclosed my COI as well as the reasons for it (that I believe Wikipedia is lacking in infrastructure related to sex festivals and I can't find anyone else to do the work for me so I need to learn how to do it myself).
- "You deny your COI while simultaneously claiming a control over their purse strings"
- I absolutely do not have any control over any purse strings of any kind, I have to request access to payment details for any expense made using the Wonderlust RY accounts, and have to invoice any expense I asked permission for and used my own accounts to pay.
- ""I can't afford to pay a contractor to do it for me" - that's not a credible position."
- oh wow... Are.. Are you actually that rich that someone claiming not to be able to pay someone to do work for them is not a credible position for you!? Like, seriously? I mean, congratulations to you, hope you are having a wonderful life up there in your financially secure heaven :)
- Personally I'm unemployed, living on social security, and the work that I do with Wonderlust Ry is as a dedicated volunteer - in the sense that I think what the organization is doing is very important (promoting consent culture), and I am wiling to put as much effort as is needed to help them do their work, very intentionally not wanting any payment in exchange for my work, as it would demean the dedication and passion I have for it.
- "You could try asking at Wikipedia:Requested articles."
- I tried finding a freelancer on freelancer.com and on fiver, I had 50e disposable income available.
- Most candidates dropped out when they saw that the page has to do with sexuality. There are an unfortunately high number of sex-negative and/or religious freelance Wikipedia editors out there. I can ask also on Wikipedia:Requested articles if you think that would help, but expecting the same results.
- And again, congratulations on being rich :) MariusPoenar (talk) 14:01, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
