Why I reverted

The text I reverted was taken directly from Food Network's website. There's a nice copyright notice at the bottom. [1] Gentgeen 05:46, 9 Apr 2005 (UTC) I so waant a show of food restaurants before the year I was born! I how awesome that would be to try all new restaurants that are still open!!

"He was born to Maria Worth in a butcher shop who abandoned her before their child's birth. (Austrian shops can be very callous.) Maria married Josef Puck in 1956, who adopted Wolfgang. Topfschnig. I'm not a German speaker, but I know the P and F are pronounced together, like "Pfeiffer", where you don't enunciate the P, but when it's at the end of a syllable you do, so the first syllable is "topf". "sch" is almost always equivalent to English "sh" or [ʃ] in IPA, and the I is long, how English speakers spell "eee". The G at the end of the word is sometimes a G and sometimes a "ch" like in Scottish "loch" or "Chanukah", and the IPA is [χ]. In short, I'd say it's: topf.shneegh. Hi. People in Austria definitely pronounce it this way: "topf-schnick" (to be honest it's kinda hard to pronounce for Austrians too, because the name Topfschnig derives from Slovenia and has been assimilated by Austrian authorities many decades ago.) By the way: the G at the end is never pronounced as "ch" in Austria and southern Germany , that would be typically for someone from northern or central Germany. -- I AGREE

Controversy: Hep A not B

I changed Hepatitis B to Hepatitis A because that is what the story clearly says the cook was infected with.

Restaurants

I would like to see a list of his restaurants and more of a discussion of his cuisine. Spago is mega famous. And each of his restaurants is different. veal controversy

Is this honestly worth mentioning? the appeal of this information is so narrow being only interesting to the most extreme animal rights activist I can't even fathom anyone but whoever the poster was would care. Further the information cancels itself out. So far the list only gives Puck's successful restaurants. It might be fun to list the ones that didn't make it as well. Like the one he opened in Los Angeles in the late 1980s around sausages and beer, both made on the premises. Can't remember its name; interior design was by Barbara Lazaroff, looked like Deconstructed Third Reich, and probably the reason it failed.

Where's the pizza??

I couldn't help but notice that pizza was not mentioned in this article. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Wolfgang Puck famous for his gourmet pizza?? I searched other sites and they all mentioned that he was famous not only because of Spago, but because of his pizza varieties that had never been done before. I believe this fact should be emphasized in this article. Please tell me if I am wrong!! When I asked my Mom who Wolfgang Puck was, she said, "Isn't he that pizza guy?" That was the only thing she could remember of him. I was reading the Wikipedia article when she said this, and had no idea what she was talking about. Other than that, I believe the article is very clear.

FIX THIS ARTICLE

Source of Puck name

The current text says "At that time, he changed his professional name to Puck because he thought his surname was hard to pronounce. He playfully picked a swear word that began with the letter F but changed the first letter to prevent it from being obscene." This sounds like he made a free choice and picked a name that was close to a common obscenity. A source is cited, but my copy of that book contains no such story. (Maybe some other edition does?) Previously, the article said (without citing a source) that Puck's name came from his stepfather Josef Puck. I suspect this change was either an error based on an urban legend or just plain vandalism. I've re-written this section based on an apparently reputable online source.
