[edit]You know, I find it very hard to accept the proposition that us of the eszett is an absolute rule that must be forced upon English-speaking Wikipedians, when so many German sources do not consider it necessary. This man's name, in German, I will accept, was Aßbrock. But "ß" is not English, and the "ß" is not always used in this man's name, even on German websites. [1] [2] [3] [4]. Heck, he even had an email address that used the "ss" spelling.[5].
So if they can use "ss" in German, we sure as heck can use it in English. I'm moving this to Assbrock, per WP:UE. Unschool (talk) 09:13, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- I agree in this case at least. All the English-language sources I've found spell his name "Assbrock" (there aren't a ton since he wasn't particularly famous, but there are a handful of scattered news reports archived in Lexis-Nexis). --Delirium (talk) 01:12, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
