{{rfc}} Should the following sentence be included in the article, in the Diet section, immediately following: When such foods are insufficient, they prey on lizards, snakes, frogs, and large insects when available.

One wolf was even known to have eaten 181 Payette's short-winged grasshoppers in a single sitting.^[1]
