Pronunciation

[edit]

Belvoir is pronounced beaver. I have made this edit once and had it reverted by someone who claimed it to be vandalism. I grew up in Leicestershire, and as any person from that county will tell you, Belvoir is pronounced beaver. Check out the Belvoir Castle page - or Google it if you don't beleive me. 81.151.231.225 22:18, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How many?

[edit]

The lead states there were three witches and gives their names, but the next paragraph said other women were accused and found to have "consorted with spirits", and it is three of these other women who are in the picture. Were they not also witches of Belvoir? How many were there in total? Seems contradictory.-Dmz5*Edits**Talk* 03:31, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How many?

[edit]

There were three Flowers who worked at the Castle and three other women who did not. Anne Baker, Ellen Greene and Joan Willimot. The woodcut is probably generic. 124.184.164.154 02:05, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Inline citations

[edit]

From the edit history:2

  • "Undid revision 752814195 by PBS (talk)Reversed as majority were inline citations (i.e. references) not footnotes.)" (diff) by user:AnonNep

While not all footnotes are inline citations and not all references are in footnotes, all inline citations within a <ref>...</ref> pairs are foot/end notes.

In this case there are both inline citations (notes) and a reference. -- PBS (talk) 18:24, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There was a single reference from 1852. There's nothing wrong with attempting a WP:BOLD revert but being in the majority certainly helps. If you want a majority note/ref format then reformat all the incline cites (once you've read them & verified content) and locate the 1852 ref & do so again. Matching up citation styles is secondary to reading & verifying the sources. If you can't do it, leave it for someone who can. AnonNep (talk) 18:44, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
