Witch doctor (disambiguation) → Witch Doctor – per WP:SMALLDIFFS. All other articles listed at the Witch doctor (disambiguation) page (except for two redirects — the first to Dungeon Family and the second to Diablo III) use uppercase "D". Those searching for the lowercase "d" Witch doctor can either type it directly or, upon typing Witch Doctor with uppercase "D", will see as the initial entry, the link "A witch doctor is a type of practitioner of traditional healing arts.". — Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 03:26, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose, small difs shouldn't matter (and more and more doesn't) in directing an obvious wording to both its upper and lower case spellings. Witch doctor is the common name of Witch Doctor, and would easily be typed upper-cased into the search bar while looking for the lower-case article. Randy Kryn (talk) 16:59, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
- Support small details does and should matter, someone typing a capital "D" is more likely to be looking for a proper noun. Witch Doctor (song) got 11,317 views compared to only 7,846 for Witch doctor[[1]]. Similar to Friendly Fire even if someone is looking for the generic term they will still find it on the 1st line anyway. In real life (and on Wikipedia) a Witch doctor isn't usually written with a capital "D" while the song (and other media) is. Also Google results (which isn't case sensitive) shows mixed results for this. Typing witch doctor or even Witch doctor still takes you onto the generic meaning even if this is moved but is surely a benefit for those that do bother to capitalize correctly. Also a quick look at what links here shows many links intended for one of the proper nouns and a few that need to be changed to lower case. Crouch, Swale (talk) 21:25, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
- Support per WP:DABNAME: "The spelling that reflects the majority of items on the page is preferred to less common alternatives." -- Netoholic @ 02:53, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
- Support Witch Doctor (disambiguation). WP:SMALLDIFFS is an poor and controversial section which leads to ambiguity and confusion and should be ditched. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:36, 15 April 2020 (UTC)
- SMALLDIFFS is helpful when applied correctly, I agree capitalization often isn't sufficient to have 2 different titles going to completely different articles (which is why I nominated Red Meat for renaming) but all that's being asked here is that the upper case go to a DAB. Why land people on the wrong article who have bothered to capitalize correctly? Those wanting Witch doctor will still easily find it on the 1st item of the DAB anyway. WP:PRIMARYTOPIC applies in any case its clear PT#1 isn't satisfied and PT#2 might not be. Yes I understand editors get confused but readers are unlikely to, either they will search for "witch doctor" or "Witch doctor" and get to the general meaning anyway or if they type "Witch Doctor" they easily find Witch doctor on the top of the DAB.
