- It's hard to say for sure, but the painting looks much more like the nearby Butser gap, between Butser Hill and War Down, where the A3 now runs. The windmill in the painting is an older post mill, but more to the point, it is in a different place with respect to the hill. --Wally Tharg (talk) 08:20, 2 April 2016 (UTC)
