FA status

I don't want to keep tagging this featured article, that I consider to be a significant accomplishment especially considering its scope, but the article does need an update to reflect its FA status. There are several places where I could add a cn tag, for instance:

  • one technical definition of a wind gust is...;
  • squall definition;
  • the remote sensing techniques paragraph with its radars and radiometers;
  • wind power;  Done FemkeMilene (talk) 19:24, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
  • practical wind power;  Done FemkeMilene (talk) 19:24, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
  • that 1st paragraph in sea breeze;  Done, FemkeMilene (talk) 19:13, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
  • the names of the winds (halny wiatr, zonda, koembang, none of that is sourced);
  • the sound generation sub-section (physicsforums.com does not seem to be a reliable source). Removed in the mean time. RetiredDuke (talk) 18:01, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
  • Is there a reason why the Enhanced Fujita scale is reproduced verbatim here when it's already at Enhanced Fujita scale? This is an article about wind, not about tornadoes in the US;
  • Or the table with the Tropical cyclone classifications, there is a tropical cyclone article for that;
  • The figures in "Wind power density" could be updated, they're from 2008/9.

The article has very good bones, but it needs some close attention. Is there anyone interested in taking up the task? RetiredDuke (talk) 14:24, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

I see that the statements where I added cn were removed, but there are still many more that need citations, examples above. RetiredDuke (talk) 18:01, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
I agree this article needs quite a bit of love for it to keep its FA status. The first sentence is already somewhat doubtful: most definitions I can find include "air" instead of "gases", which makes a lot of sense, as I would not call the flow of weird in some laboratory "wind", but the same scale movement of air would be. The reviewed article had Wind is the flow of air or other gases that compose an atmosphere (including that of the planet Earth). Changing it back. FemkeMilene (talk) 18:11, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
I think the Beaufort scale, at least to scale 12, should be included in the article. We may consider splitting the horrendous table into two: the normal wind (top left) and the tropical cyclone (bottom right). FemkeMilene (talk) 18:34, 21 June 2021 (UTC)
Any updates Femkemilene? Hopefully this doesn't need to go to FAR. (t · c) buidhe 06:53, 11 September 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the reminder. Real life hectic at the moment. If I've not done significant work in 4 months, I would have no objections to a FAR. FemkeMilene (talk) 08:51, 11 September 2021 (UTC)
FAR is needed heer, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 00:50, 3 January 2022 (UTC)

Perplexing lede

This article's lede seems insufficient to address wind on a moon such as Io (moon), which has wind due to the atmospheric effect of its volcanic activity and subsequent interaction with Jupiter's magnetosphere. Perhaps a better lede would be, "Wind is the natural movement of atmospheric air or other gasses." Alternatively, this article might benefit from a header such as —

Then, the lede should read something like, "Wind is the natural movement of atmospheric air or other gasses relative to the Earth's surface."
