September 2006 arrest

Psycoactive mushrooms are not "narcotic." A narcotic is a painkiller or depressent.

Just a peice of triva. It is claimed that Willie Nelson is one of the choosen few who claim to have smoked dope on the roof of the White House (with Billy Carter apparently) during the Carter administration. Truly a great honor!

After posting link to the song 'Ballad of Willie Nelson' , I read that that was improper for wikipedia edits to link to one's own site - which I did. It said to suggest it here and IF another wants to post the external link, then and only then is it acceptable. The link is to http://hunkasaurus.com/ then click music, then click 30. Django Reinhardt as an influence

Reinhardt was an influence on Willie's approach to playing the guitar. His 1980's "Over The Rainbow" album (Columbia) was an acoustic swing effort meant to pay tribute to Reinhardt.

Martial arts

I noticed in an upcoming American Masters show on PBS, and from sources on the internet that Willie Nelson practices martial arts and Yoga. He has practiced Kung Fu for a long time, and he has a black belt in Tae Kwan Do.

Neutrality

Some things in the "Popular image" section do not seem neutral to me. Also there are parts that seem irrelevant or insubstantiated.

The entire article fails to explain the principle of artistic control that was at the heart of the "Outlaw Movement," a philosophy involving letting artists, not Nashville producers, control the music recorded. This was the same issue that set Waylon Jennings at odds with RCA Victor, which was also Willie's label from 1965-1972. Place of birth

The intro says Willie was "born and raised in Abbott, Texas."

The next paragraph says he was "born on April 30, 1933 in Fort Worth, Texas, and raised in Abbot, Texas, about 60 miles south of Fort Worth."

Willie was born in Abbott, Texas.
Also a little published, but well known fact, to Willie fans such as me, is that he was actually born on 29th April.
I have the information on a video of Willie.
The story, as he tells it is that for the first years of his life he beilived that his birthday was 29th, and celebrated it as such. But when he came to join the army, and needed to acquire a copy of his birth certificate, he found that the certificate gave his date of birth as the 30th. Assuming this was correct, for the next 30 years he celebrated his birthday on the 30th. Until an aged aunt put him right. She could tell him that she was there when he was born, several minutes before midnight, but the doctor didn't look at his watch until several minutes after midnight, and logged the date of birth as the 30th.
Being Willie, and in true outlaw style, he now celebrates both days.
This year he will celebrate his 75th birthday during a tour to Europe, and I have tickets to 2 shows, including front row seats at Hamar, Norway. Hopefully I will get to meet him personally again.Robbiework (talk) 23:12, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

A note about taxes

I deleted the label at the bottom of the article regarding "tax evader." That label is in my opinion entirely inappropriate here. In the United States, tax evasion is a crime defined at 26 U.S.C. § 7201. The subject of this article has never even been accused of tax evasion, much less convicted of any such thing.
