Needs expansion

[edit]

Wirt apparently "turned the office of Attorney General into one of influence," yet not a word in this article is about his tenure in that office. -- LightSpectra (talk) 00:18, 6 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Early life

[edit]
  • Robert, Joseph C. (October 1972). "William Wirt, Virginian". Virginia Magazine of History and Biography. 80 (4): 387–441. JSTOR 4247747.
  • Kukla, Jon (2016). "Orator of nature: William Wirt's Sketches of the Life and Character of Patrick Henry". Reviews in American History. 44 (4): 517–523. JSTOR 26364138.

I found Robert 1972 whilst looking for something else entirely. According to Kukla 2016, p. 522 it is "the best account of Wirt's early life", which this article is currently only sourcing to Appleton's Cyclopaedia. Uncle G (talk) 07:46, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A "former Mason"?

[edit]

When Wirt is described as a “former Mason,” is there any information whether that means he formally resigned due to differences or other reasons or does it mean he just lost interest and stopped attending meetings and other Masonic activities as often happens in many such organizations and religions?
