Bill Paul

[edit]

I studied under Bill at the Japanese cultural center in Concord California, in 1973 and was invited to fight on the SF State University team which I did through 1974. I know Bill quite well and visited him at his home in the Mission district several times. He died in 1979 not 89, from intestinal cancer after having his colin removed. I visited him in the Jewish hospital in San Francisco. He loved eating in the worst restraints he could find and his diet left a lot to be considered for someone in his role. The team at SF State who were at the time all close friends, broke up due to the end of his leadership role. I don't remember anything about Harvard. He actually was reprimanded by both schools for not informing them of his dual status while doing double masters programs at SF State and UC Berkely at the same time, around 1974. He was a renegade and a great teacher, although I did not agree with his personal life style. He was however someone who effected my life and I remember him well as a friend and teacher. He was the most brilliant street fighter in the country. 2600:1700:59A0:2B60:8C66:3A2D:69F3:6BA0 (talk) 14:32, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
