Age
[edit]There seems to be some confusion as to the actual age of Tate. As is correctly stated in the article, Richard Rose in his paper gives his age at the time of the landing as 44. The date of birth in the article, though, is 1744. If Tate was in fact 44 at the time of the invasion, his date of birth would be around 1753.
In addition, John D. Ahlstrom in his paper on William Tate for the South Carolina Historical Society gives his date of birth as 1728. Which would have made him 68 or 69 at the time of the invasion.
Any which way, the date of birth given in this article is most probably the wrong one. 80.108.50.244 (talk) 10:58, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
