Height
[edit]Yes he's tall, but the it's been inserted in the article it's a complete non sequitur, what bearing does it actually have on the sentences that surround it? Was his height a reason for his failing the Sandhurst exam, or was it (just possibly more likely) in some way related to his commissioning (probably more related to his father's status in regimental history). Unless it can be better integrated into the article text it should be taken out again, regardless of the fact that it can be sourced. David Underdown (talk) 11:00, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
- No doubt you're right, but for a soldier to be so tall is significant and should be included, and in my view all information in an infobox should derive from the text and be referenced. If you can think of a better place to put this, do please feel free to move it.
- Congratulations, by the way, on your sterling work on the London Gazette references, some of which add new material which no doubt should be incorporated into the article.

Delhi Herald
[edit]I seem to recall an article from a Coat of Arms last year by Peter O'Donoghue that dealt with the Delhi Herald. It might have had a picture of Peyton in tabard which should be in the public domain. I'll check that after work today. If anyone else gets that magazine, they might also check in case I can't find mine.--Eva bd 13:24, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, Eva, that's a good piece of recollection. If there is such a picture, it would be excellent to have it. Xn4 18:11, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- I found the article. It does contain photos of Mohammed Umar Hayat and Peyton from the 1911 Durbar. I would think those would be in the public domain. It also had a photo of Osmond Barnes, who served as the Chief Herald (without the title of Delhi Herald) for the 1876 Imperial Assemblage. This should definitely be PD. I didn't get a chance to scan them last night, but will try when I get home from work today.--Eva bd 13:34, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- Nice work, Eva. When you have the scan uploaded, I'd be pleased to see it here at the biography for Peyton, but no doubt it would be even more suitable for the Delhi Herald and Delhi Durbar articles. I might also start a short article for Khan, whose son already has one. Regards, Xn4 19:24, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
- An article on Khan would be nice. It's been on my to do list for sometime...mostly because just about every officer of arms on Wikipedia is a caucasion male (notable exceptions include Elizabeth Roads, Claire Boudreau, and Themba Mabaso, of course) and an Indian officer would be a nice addition. I haven't gotten around to it yet. O'Donoghue does include some biographical information in his article which I can use to add to it. Great Work!--Eva bd 19:30, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
The images are now uploaded. Not sure where to put Barnes?--Eva bd 00:10, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Congratulations on the excellent pictures! I've now created the Malik Umar Hayat Khan article. Xn4 03:41, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- On Barnes, I've now started an article for him, see Osmond Barnes. Xn4 16:08, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
