Inclusion of FindaGrave as an EL

[edit]

The William Luce at Find a Grave page serves to verify where he is buried, and it is not used as a textual reference. It is maintained by FindaGrave and subject to their editorial control. (E.g., details on "famous" person webpages may be suggested by Findagrave users, but are reviewed by Ancestry.com staff before incorporation into the listings.) In general, Find a Grave is helpful to genealogy and tombstone tourists. Moreover, FindaGrave it is similar to IMDb, which is a widely accepted EL on WP. With these facts in mind it is entirely proper to provide this WP:NOTEWORTHY link in the EL section. (@Nikkimaria:) – S. Rich (talk) 22:47, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

NOTEWORTHY is in reference to article content, not external links. The link does not provide a unique resource beyond what the article would contain if it became featured (WP:ELNO#1). Additionally it appears to have been written by a regular non-staff contributor (ie. is user-generated) and has no sources listed to verify the claims made.
