Date of death confusion
[edit]William Lindsay’s last acting credit was in the 1985 film Lifeforce where he played Colonel’s Aide. According to the Trivia page on it’s entry on the US IMDb, it says that he died before it was released in British cinemas.
Through research at Ancestry, I’ve found in The Times Death Notices 1982-1988 section, a William Denis Mary Lindsay, who died on 14 May 1986, which could be him as it also lists various other actors I’ve seen. Through a normal search, I’ve found his birth date as 15 August 1945. John Golightly, who played the Colonel, was born in 1936 and Lindsay looked younger. I haven’t seen any William Lindsays younger than 1936 who died over 1984-5.
Lifeforce was released in the US on 21 June 1985 but the UK date isn’t known. Was it delayed until after 14 May 1986 due to editing perhaps, hence the different versions? (Young Sherlock Holmes was released in the US on 4 December 1985 and one of the actors in it, Donald Eccles, died on 2 February 1986, a month before it was released in the UK on 21 March 1986.)
Sorry if this is long-winded. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.33.199.77 (talk) 09:47, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
