Alexander de Duglas
[edit]Brendan, missed the birth of this article but have a couple of bits of info. From The Registry of Moray, I note that in 1226 Erkenbaldo de Duglas witnessed a document at Elgin and he is described as Erkenbaldo de Duglas fratre quondam Bricii episcope which I translate as Archibald of Duglas, brother of the late Bishop Brice. However my main point regards Alexander; again the RoM mentions Alexander (Alexandro de Duglas) a fair bit but almost always as as vicecomite de Elgin, ie Sheriff of Elgin. From memory (because I can't find it at the moment) Alexander is mentioned as a canon once - maybe more - so could it be that he held as his main job, the sheriffdom but that his brother Bricius gave him prebendary as a "family gift"? --Bill Reid | Talk 16:33, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
